ROGER CALHOUN Obituary

MOODY - A Celebration of Life for Roger Dale Calhoun, 62, was Monday 2pm at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. John Simmons officiating. Burial followed in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Roger died Friday, November 15, 2013 at his home. Survivors include his wife, Paula M. Calhoun; children, Tim Calhoun (Ellen), Amy Calhoun Bishop (Curtis "Snowie"), Jason Brian Calhoun (Shannon); seven grandchildren, Zach, Cameron, Alexis, Abby, Natalie, Carson, and Amelia Claire; mother, Cora Mae Calhoun; brothers, Jimmy Calhoun and Fred Calhoun; sister, Teresa Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, James Alfred Calhoun. Roger lived most of his life in Talladega County. Growing up, he was active in various sports; as an adult, he loved hunting, fishing, golf and Crimson Tide football. As a young adult, Roger worked with the City of Anniston. Most of his career he was with Barron Industries in Leeds, AL. He enjoyed singing tenor and playing guitar; through The United Methodist Church, he loved serving Christ in hospitality ministries, sharing friendship and food with grace. Roger and family are deeply grateful to the medical teams of UAB Hospital (Birmingham), especially Dr. James M. Markert, Dr. Bradford A. Woodworth and Dr. Kimberly Kicielinski. Pallbearers were Tim Calhoun, J. B. Calhoun, Zach Calhoun, Snowie Bishop, Cameron Calhoun, and Michael Purner. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Moses, Paul Sefcik and Howard Clark. The family requests gifts in Roger's memory to Shepherd Supply, P.O. Box 131, Moody, AL 35004.
