Kelly Mejia Obituary

Kelly J. Mejia (Johnson), 30, of Menasha, died suddenly and unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at a friend's home in Menasha.

She was born Oct. 25, 1981, at Saint Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, the daughter of Christine L. Schulfer (Bricco) and Terry Johnson. She married Jesus R. Mejia on May 19, 2006.

Kelly had a gift for working with the disabled and elderly. She was fluent in Spanish and sign language, and recently enrolled at Globe University studying to be a medical technician. She truly found joy in the work of helping others and will be sadly missed by the lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Jesus R. Mejia; two children, Vanessa Mejia (9) and Gabriel Rodriquez (12); her mother, Christine L. Schulfer (Bricco); father, Terry Johnson; brother, Nicholas W. Johnson; and grandmother, Regina F. Bricco. She is further survived by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; stepfather, David Schulfer; stepbrother, Dylan D Schulfer; and stepsister, Katelyn M. Schulfer.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Adam L. Johnson (age 20); grandfather, Roger W. Bricco; grandmother, Jean Johnson; grandfather, Wilfred Johnson; and Uncle Ronald R. Bricco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. Andrzej Panek will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point, and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
