Richard J. Suchon

Of Stevens Point died early Friday morning, September 16, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. Age 85 Richard was born July 19, 1931 in Polonia, WI. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Stroik) Suchon. He attended Ellis School and local schools in Stevens Point.

Richard entered the United States Navy on January 11, 1952 in Chicago, IL. He served during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1955 at the United States Naval Station in San Francisco, CA.

His marriage to Barbara Stowe took place on September 1, 1956 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. After their marriage the couple settled in the Stevens Point area. His wife Barbara survives.

Richard had a long career working for the Soo Line Railroad, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed Hunting and Fishing, gardening and loved raising small animals. Survivors include his wife Barbara of Stevens Point, one daughter Rita (Alan) Klein of Stevens Point. Two Step Grandchildren; Julie (Harry) Gleason of Arizona and Richard Klein of Green Bay, and four step great grandchildren; Lily, Jacob and Trevor Gleason and Alexandria Keiler-Klein.

Further survived by Two Brothers; Tony (Ruth) Suchon and Robert (Linda) Suchon both of Stevens Point, and Three Sisters Eleanor Cichosz and Jeanette Boursier both of Stevens Point and Loretta Buege of Plover and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Leonard and Joseph Jr., three brother in laws and one sister in law.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second St. Stevens Point. Deacon Vern Linzmeier officiating. Burial will full military honors provided by American Legion Post 6 Firing Squad will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:30 A.M.
