Roger Stasko Obituary

Roger L. Stasko

Roger L. Stasko age 83, passed away September 12, 2012 at his residence in the Town of Hull.

A visitation for Roger will be held Saturday, September 16, 2012 from 10:30 until 12:30 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point.

Roger was born October 14, 1928 in Plover to Michael and Bridgette (Mansavage) Stasko. He was raised in Plover and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. He served in the Korean War from September 25, 1948 until May 20, 1952. He was injured during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. He served in Washington, DC for a short time following his return from Korea before returning to Plover where he married Kathryn (Kitty) Strike on September 1, 1956. They relocated to Stevens Point in the early 1960's. Roger was a carpenter and General Contractor for over 20 years. For much of this time, he was the co-owner of Stasko and Hoppe Builders along with his friend Art Hoppe. He then went into building materials sales and service until his retirement in 1993. His wife Kitty passed that same year.

Roger was an avid athlete, playing baseball during the war and later becoming an active member of the Stevens Point Country Club. He spent many hours there golfing, playing tennis, curling and spending time with friends.

He is survived by his children: Donna (Gary) Plahmer of Stevens Point and Roger "Rusty" (Lois) Stasko of Wausau; his sister Bernice Stasko of Plover and his brother Jim (Sandy) Stasko of Tampa, FL; his grandkids: Karalyn Kluck, Melanie (Kevin) Miller, both of Stevens Point; and two great grandchildren: Joey and Julie. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers: Mel and Hank.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ministry Home Care Hospice, 2501 Main Street, Suite A, Stevens Point, WI 54481.
