PEARL GREV 10/11/1938 - 06/25/2025 Odin, MN - Pearl Marlene (Diekmann) Grev, 86, died on June 25, 2025. She was born on October 11, 1938, to Otto and Anna (Wolff) Diekmann on a farm in Westford Township, Martin County, the third of four children. After graduating from high school and completing her licensed practical nurse (LPN) training, she married Leslie Norman Grev on April 30, 1960. During their 56 years of marriage, they were blessed with five children. They lived in Blue Earth where Pearl worked as an LPN at United Hospital and St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center. She then left her work to help her husband realize his dreams of farming the Grev land in rural Odin and opening his own private business, Grev's Garage, in Trimont. After a year of transition, Pearl decided to return to the workforce and became a charge nurse at Eventide Nursing Home in Mt. Lake. She also worked at nursing homes in Trimont and St. James later in her career when she and Les moved off the farm to settle in Ormsby. Pearl was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin where she served in various roles as part of first the Ladies' Aid, then WELCA; she helped serve at funerals, took on leadership positions, and quilted. She also served as a Confirmation mentor and Sunday School teacher, and participated in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study for many years. A member of Donald Larson V.F.W. Post 9607 Women's Auxiliary of Butterfield, Pearl served as president and in other leadership roles over the years. Pearl enjoyed square dancing and bowling, made every holiday special with decorations, baking, and meals, gardened and canned, attended her children's and grandchildren's events, and had fun playing cards and other games. Her boundless generosity, joyful spirit, hard-working attitude, and songs and stories were legendary. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Gloria (Rich) Argo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bill Grev of St. James, Loren (Chris) Grev of Rochester, David (Kendra) Grev of rural Odin, and Carrie Grev of Manila, Philippines; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Katherine (Wayne) with great-grandson Tommy Kross, Thomas (Alicia) with great-granddaughters Skylar, Raelyn, and Kamryn, Amanda, Nathaniel, Jessica (Philip), Katelyn, Kaleb (Candra) with great-grandchildren Kenla and Abram, Joshua (Rachel) with great-grandchildren Micah, Tatum, and Charlie, Benjamin (Jennifer) with great-granddaughter Junia, Samuel (Victoria) with great-granddaughter Florence, Isaac (Makayla) with great-grandson Juddson, and Jacob; her sister, Clarine (Lorin) Weiss-Glidden of Sherburn, sisters-in-law Kathryn Carlblom of League City, Texas, Frances Valley of Port Orchard, Wash., and Katie Grev of Blue Earth, brothers-in-law Conrad (Kathryn) Grev of Maple Grove, Lowell (Ann) Grev of Oakland, Mo., and Dennis Grev of Odin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, father-and mother-in-law, Knute Melvin and Ethel Carrie, and husband Leslie Norman; brother Walter Diekmann, sister Yvonne Krumwiede, brothers-in-law Bruce Grev, Dwayne Wise, Arlen Carlblom, Cleo Krumwiede, Glenn Weiss, Julian Grev, and Tom Valley, sisters-in-law Marlene Grev, Judy Grev, Joan Diekmann, Elaine Grev, and Donna Wise; nieces Janice Grev and Flori Carlblom, and great-nephews Zach Wise and Allen Herme. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery after the service with fellowship to follow.
