Abdul Khan Obituary

Dr. Abdul Ghani Khan M.D. passed away July 13, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, January 22, 1933, the third eldest of 13 siblings. Dr Khan was educated at Dhaka Medical College and emigrated to the United States in 1959. He completed his internship at Elyria Hospital, Elyria Ohio, and residency in Florida and Lincoln Hospital, Bronx New York, before moving to St Louis Missouri in 1966. There he began a 60-year legacy of dedicated medical service as a pediatrician.

Dr Khan worked at old St Anthony Hospital, Labor Health Institute, and a private practice in Arnold Missouri from 1981 to 2015. He was an attending physician at St Anthony, Cardinal Glennon and St Lukes hospitals. He served at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox, KY. In both clinic and private practice, he served multiple generations of families in the Arnold area and South County as well as St Louis City. Dr Khan was known for work ethic and his kindness and compassion.

In addition, he was well known in the Bangladeshi community, respected as an elder, and active in the greater Muslim Community. Personally, Dr Khan loved Thanksgiving for bringing people together.

He leaves behind his beloved family: wife Anwara Minu Khan, sons, Omar(Lee) Khan of Creve Coeur, Saad(Emily) Khan of St Louis, and Anthony Khan of Minneapolis and daughter, Shireen Khan of Seattle and 6 grandchildren. Brothers, A Gafur (Nasreen) Khan and A Masud (Shanto) Khan of St Louis, Mistu Khan of Philadelphia and sisters Henna, Mono, and Rosie who live abroad.

We mourn the loss of truly kind human being, who saw the good in people and tried to bring all ages and cultures together. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis located at 517 Weidman Rd, Ballwin MO 63011.

Dr. Khan was the most kind, gentle, and understanding man. He cared for me and my brother in the 70's and later my 3 children up until he retired from his practice in Arnold. My family is forever grateful for the care he gave us.

May your memories give you peace and comfort of your loved one. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for the loss of your loved one. May GOD be with you all during this difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus.

My sincere sympathy to the Khan family. My husband knew Dr. Khan professionally. We knew him through Tony and Shereen. Dr. Khan made the word a better place.
