Elizabeth and Katharine,
Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you. I know what you must be going through as my mom passed away 5 years ago this coming Christmas Eve. I remember your mom's presence at all the swim meets and more recently (although I can't remember the exact year) that I ran into you guys while you were shopping at the Disney store. I hope you find comfort in this beautiful poem. It is one of my favorites.
In The Next Room
Death is nothing at all;
I have only slipped away
Into the next room.
I am I and you are you;
Whatever we were to each other,
That we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which
You always used to.
Put no difference in your tone;
Wear no forced air or solemnity
Or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the
Little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Why should I be out of mind because
I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.
Blessings to both of you and your families.

Liz, I am sorry for your loss. I cherish the few times I spent with you and your mother and am glad I had that opportunity. My thoughts are with you.

Liz,
So very sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a parent is especially difficult as you have lost someone who has been with you for your whole life, through all the ups and downs, my sympathies and prayers to you and your family, Margo

My condolences to all of Alice's family. I originally met Alice at Tyler Place Presbyterian Church on Spring in a youth group. She was always fun to be with and she had many "parties" at her house on Flora for her many friends. I was lucky enough to get one of the first rides in the new Buick her dad bought for her 16th birthday. We went to Roosevelt together but she was a bit ahead of me. (And a lot smarter too.) I lost track after high school as we went our separate ways and she became a lawyer. I became reaquainted with Alice in the last several years through gatherings at the Rubano's. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a highlight of my youth.
With my most sincere sympathy to each of her family.
