I was at St. Albert the Great when Sister Anastasia taught 7th grade. I will ALWAYS remember her sense of humor. She was so easy to talk to and I would often make a special trip to her room at recess or lunch to tell her the latest joke. (I heard that she was strict when she became principal, and you folks unfortunately never saw that side of her.) She will be missed. Sr. Anastasia, Rest in Peace, you sweet angel.

Sister Anastasia was my eighth grade teacher and principal in 1965-66 while I was a student at St. Albert the Great in Fairview Heights. She was strict but fair. She also stayed in touch with me after graduation, writing on a regular basis and following my career. She was indeed special! Steve Jankowski (Godfrey, IL)

Sister Anastasia was a great teacher and principal at Immaculate Conception in Centreville, IL. I went to Ruma to see her a few years ago and she recognized me after all that time. What a memory!
She was a wonderful person and I have the most respect for her and her guidance. I have always heard that you will remember one particular and special teacher in your life and I agree. Sr. Anastasia was the special one for me.
I will miss her cards and notes but I know she is in a much better place and no longer suffering. She has been through so much and now she will be rewarded for all her pain.
God bless you Sister Anastasia. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sister Anastasia was my principal at St. Albert the Great in the late 60's. I lost contact with her but when my brother died in 1997 she sent me a sympathy card that meant so much to me. We exchanged Christmas cards ever since. She taught all of my siblings and it was fun sharing my life and my family with her. She was a wonderful servant of God and I am so grateful for our recent communications.

What a gem Sister Anastasia was. To have had her a part of my life for 60+ years had quite an impact on me. She will be missed by all. Maureen Dukes Kumke, Collinsville, IL

I was privileged to know Sister Anastasia for about 25 years. She was always a truly loving, deeply-caring person with a happy smile...reaching out to others in kindness. I am blessed to have known this wonderful nun! May our dear Lord comfort her family & many friends!

There are times in everyone's life when someone enters who makes a huge impact. Sister Anastasia was one of those people for me.She came to Immaculate Conception, Centreville for my 8th grade, but it seems like she was there for both 7 & 8; my memory is not so good anymore. I remember all the encouragement she gave and the patience she displayed even when she had to deal with the likes of me and "some" of my cohorts. I last saw and talked to Sister probably 20 years ago when I was visiting Ruma with my Mom. She looked like she hadn't aged a bit and she became rather embarrassed when I made mention of it. She always had a special place in my heart and always will for being the kind of teacher, friend, and mentor that I wish everyone could have sometime in their life. May God bless you Sister and many thanks from just one of the thousands your life touched in so many ways. Rest in Peace.

Dear Sister Anastasia,
I understand that you will soon be seeing my mom and dad. Please tell them I love them and miss them. I assume you will also be seeing the face of Jesus, please tell Him that I love Him too. (And let me know what He really looks like!)
You were a terrific teacher for me and I will always treasure our relationship. I know that you treated me better than the others in our class because of my sister, and for that I am grateful. (And the envy of my classmates.) You have a beautiful crown waiting for you when you get to heaven. It holds a jewel for every student you ever taught and guided along the pathway to knowledge and righteousness. One of those jewels represents me. (There's one in there for that old dog of yours too. Sam I believe he was.) There are hundreds if not thousands who love you and wish you the best. Count me among those!
I think there is a special house in an upscale neighborhood for you and the others who dedicated their lives in service to the Lord. It's a house that is in the best part of town that Jesus walks by several times a day. Give Him that warm smile that I remember and love. And tell Him that I'm sorry for not loving Him as much as you do. (Put in a good word for me!)
Your memory gives me joy now and forever. Thank you for all that you did for me and I promise that I will come visit you in that special house in that special neighborhood. Have courage and be not afraid as the best is yet to come.
With all my love and best wishes,
