I was shocked to stumble across this while searching for Dr. Zupan. He was my sons pediatric doctor 13 years ago, and diagnosed him with Autism. We are expecting tomorrow and I was trying to see if he was still part of the mercy family. I am very sorry to see that he is no longer with us. Many blessings to his family and friends.

Zupan family. My name is LaKysha Drummond. I was randomly thinking of doctor's who made an impact on my children. Dr. Zupan while in Cincinnati was the best; he was a pivotal part in diagnosing my daughter with a rare illness that made her become paralyzed. I loved him like he was my own personal doctor just for my family. I sincerely wish your family nothing but blessings because he was truly a blessing to my family. God Bless you the Zupan family.

I just heard about Dr. Zupan's untimely passing. My heart goes out to his family. I had only recently had the pleasure of meeting him. My son was born in July with a few complications. He had such compassion for our situation. He offered words of wisdom that I have often repeated to myself over the last 9 months. He made such a positive difference in our lives in just a few days. I will be forever thankful.

My heartfelt sympathy to Andys family. He was a gentle, kind, compassionate person and doctor. He always took the time to listen and consider the feelings of others. He also liked to laugh and he was funnny! I was friends with him during our pediatric residency at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Everyone at Childrens loved him. He was known for his dedication to his patients, and his kind nature.

Andys life reminds me how much one persons kindness makes a difference in the world.

Zupan Family & Riverside Family,

I've been trying to find the right words for days and have come to the conclusion that there are no right words for these things. We have been so blessed to have Andy as our three children's pediatrician for many years. Our oldest is 16 now, and she has loved growing up with Dr. Andy. We were just in a few weeks ago, reminiscing of her younger years. Even then he took the time to talk to her about her life. He definetly wasn't an "in and out" doctor. I never left the office without all my questions answered and all my fears calmed. We already miss him dearly and it's been difficult to imagine a world without his lovely bright light and loving heart. He's made an impact in so many lives, so I'm positive his light will continue to shine through every child, parent, and person he has touched. Please know that our thoughts have been with you constantly and many prayers have been said. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful person with us. He will continue to be loved and remembered.

Dear Zupan Family, Dr. Zupan was our daughter's pediatrician here in Batesville and you used to live just a stone's throw away from us out in Oldenburg. On our daily walk this morning I was thinking about your family and wondered how you were, only to see that he had passed away. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers go out to all of you and the doctor's friends.

To the Zupan Family:
I am stunned and greatly saddened to hear of Andy's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lori and the kids, brother Mark, parents Janez and Maria, and the entire Zupan family. Andy was a friend and teammate of mine in school at St. Tim's and Watterson in Columbus. He was unquestionably the most friendly, pleasant and intelligent person with whom I have ever had the honor of associating. Andy will always be remembered as the finest "In the Know" player in the history of the TV show. My life is immeasurably better for having known Andy - and the lives of countless others have been touched forever by his kindness, talents, caring, and love. Andy, your spirit will live on - in all the good you brought to this world during the all-too-short time you graced us. God bless you.

Dear Zupan Family: We were so sad to hear about the recent death of "Andy". We have been in Florida and didn't see the notice in the newspaper. We ran into Mr. Maurer (Hilltop "Y" Swim Coach) who told us about "Andy". It sounds as though he became the wonderful man we always knew he would as a teen-ager. Dr Zupan was our pediatrician when they lived in Batesville, Indiana. I always loved how he would remember everything about our kids and would see them outside of the office and ask how they were doing, even if they hadn't been to the office for illness. We have truly missed him here. What a great man he was.

Sad day. Andy had that rarest of combos -- off the charts in both IQ and personality. I just thought of him the other night when my girlfriend and I were dancing in the living room to Don McLean's "American Pie" -- Andy and I once devoted a study hall at Bishop Watterson (Columbus, OH) to memorizing the voluminous lyrics to that song. I never forgot a word.

I was at Barnes the first week of February with my preemie twins. I felt lucky to have Dr. Zupan taking care of the boys then and now I realize how truly blessed we were to have him there when we were there. He took time to talk to me and explain things and I was so happy with the care and concern he had for my boys. Thank you for sharing him with us. He will be in my prayers. I worked with Dr. Zupan in Batesville, Indiana. What an amazing physician and person. I still have patients come in and ask about him and say they miss him in our town. I am so sorry to hear about Andy. I have been reading through some of the wonderful things he has accomplished and I am in awe but not surprised. I haven't seen Andy in a long time but still remember competing with him at the district science fair at OSU when we were at St. Tim's. The judges came up and asked him about his project and he didn't stop for what seemed like over an hour. I'm not sure who was more impressed with him the judges or me. I knew he was going to be great in anything he chose to do and it looks like he was.

My deepest sympathies to Andy's friends and family

Dear Zupan Family,
I am so sad to learn of Andy's passing. I knew Andy at St. Timothy, Northwest Swim Club and at Watterson. The tributes to Andy are amazing but not unexpected. Even in childhood I knew he was remarkable. He was funny and brilliant at the same time—a rare combination. Andy one of our best swimmers on the NWSC “Water Ape” swim team. He kept us laughing and working hard every summer. He continued to balance brilliance and fun during High School. Andy's appearances on “In The Know” became must see TV. Not only did he know every answer, he was witty and entertaining as well. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of Andy.

Lori and Andy's family,
It was with great sadness that I learned today of Andy's death. When Andy was working on his PhD/MD at Washington U Med School, it was obvious that he was one of the best physicians that I would see out of the hundreds that I saw trained or met during my lifetime. But to credit him with being an exceptional physician only addresses a small portion of his overall character. He accomplished what few individuals have: his entire being was exceptional. In his every interaction that I witnessed, his kindness, consideration, humor, and respect for every human being made him one of the most remarkable people that I've ever encountered. My prayers are with the family as they move forward.

Dr. Zupan took care of our 3 year old little girl in the ER just last weekend. He was so sweet and kind. I could tell how wonderful of a doctor he was just from the time we spent with him in the ER. I am praying for his whole family. May God Bless you all and give you the peace and comfort onle He can give.

He was more than just a doctor. He was a friend when you needed one. You could always count on him. He never gave less than the best. He was loving and caring and not like any other doctor I've ever seen. I'm really sorry he is gone. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

This is from ellen still an and her family as well. We wish we could be there.

My deepest sympathy to his family. Dr Zupan was truly a gentle soul who cared so much for all of his patients. He was a great mentor for me and all who had the privilege of working with him over the years. He will be missed by all. May he rest in peace.

I met Dr. Zupan when my son needed stitches. He was wonderful with a caring heart and warm smile. I did not get to work directly with him but when I saw him at the hospital he would exchange a hello and smile. I am saddened to hear this news and his wife and children are in my thoughts with deepest sympathy.

I am heartbroken of the news of Dr Zupan's passing. He was the most kind and sweet doctor I have ever encountered. He truly loved kids and his job. We were looking forward to seeing him tomorrow for my son's 6 month checkup. Heaven received a true Angel of a doctor and though he will be missed here on earth he will rejoice with the Lord forever. Your family are in my prayers.
