Brian Dolan Obituary

Dolan, Brian Anthony Beloved father, brother, uncle and friend was peacefully called to God December 3rd, 2016. Brian was born September 28th, 1963 to Elmer Stephen Dolan (RIP 1973) and Mary Frances Billings Dolan (RIP 1990) as one of 9 Dolan siblings. Uncle Bri was always the comedian of the family and was a special person from birth until God called him to his reward. His loyalty to family, God, country and community was an inspiration not only to his family but to the countless number of friends Brian had made throughout his life and global travels. His tremendous magnetic personality was felt by all of those who encountered him. The number of well wishes that were received since Friday is an awe-inspiring testament to his love and loyalty that all felt in his presence. Brian is survived by his sweet daughter Brigid Dolan (19) and his son, a strength and rock, John (17), 7 siblings, Kathleen (Dolan) Schroeder, Stephen Dolan, Joseph Dolan, John Dolan, Matthew Dolan, Mark Dolan, Michael Dolan and the late Patrick Dolan (RIP 1997), as well as 19 nieces and nephews plus 8 grandnieces and nephews that saw him as larger than life. The number of friends are too vast to count. Brian has them all over the globe. As sad as this is please try and remember Brian for the man that he was. Remember his humor, loyalty and love of all that are close to him. We will never forget him or can thank him for the friendship and love he has shown all of us. Condolences to the family. I went to AIT with Brian at NTTC Corry Station in 1986. I have wonderful memories from those days that I could never forget. Brian brightened my days and anyone near him with his funny stories. However, my favorite was his Ted Knight impression, that still makes me smile. He has and will always be missed. Thank you for the memories and for including me in your life Brian. Always here, Anne

I sadly learn't about Brian's passing in recent days. We worked together in Iraq in 2005/06 and became friends. I have good memories of him and included some stories of him in a book I am writing on our days in Iraq. I had contact with him earlier this year regarding the book and it excited him to the the extend that he wanted to talk about it on air on his radioshow when the time was right. R.I.P. Big Guy, you were a great man.

Brian and his older brother John were important influences on my life with John as my high school football coach and Brian as his right-hand man. I hadn't seen Brian in 25 years but I will always smile when I think about him. My condolences to the Dolan family and to all of Brian's friends. Even before his military and police careers, there is nobody I would rather have my back than Brian.

Sadly I hadn't seen Brian for quite some time. But my memories of him being a tireless advocate for his fellow police officers and marines is forever ingrained in my mind. If you found yourself in the gutter he wouldn't ask how you got there nor would he stand above you to pull you out. Like the true hero he was, he would get in the gutter with you and you both would fight out of the muck together. Awesome man. Semper Fi.

To the Dolan Family, Brian is now in heaven. possibly running the show, maybe riding his Harley and filled with Joy. I loved working with Brian in the early days at Advance Carpet. He was a teenager and made me laugh often. That is a gift. He was a character and that is what I loved about him. He was a brother to my brother Tony. Please know my prayers are with you. Know he is at peace. Love, Beth Ernst and the Doc's Harley-Davidson Family

There are those in law enforcement who have suffered the fallout of critical, life altering, blink-of-an-eye decisions. They survived the moment, only to be run through the grinder, by Monday morning critics, who know nothing of what it takes, not only to keep the citizens and city streets safe, but survive, with your sanity, the very beast that lurks therein. You were once judged by the meager, persevered, and won a victory for all officers who are increasingly ostracized by Monday morning critics. In your duties you never faltered, doubted, nor allowed yourself to second-guess your brave actions. You endured your watch, kept the code, carved your niche upon that thin blue line, then humbly went home to your family. Rest now, Brother. You have served your time honorably. Fair winds and following seas. Semper Fi!

I would much prefer to be writing something funny or sarcastic about Tim McCarver or Al Hrbosky on your Facebook wall instead of writing this condolence, and I'll continue to send you all of Mike Shannon's anecdotes next season. I'm glad I was able to share about 25 years of my life as your friend, and only wish I could have 25 more, but sadly that was not God's plan. Rest in Peace Brian.

Although we kept in touch through face book as adults, I have not seen Brian since he was a young boy. Even then he lit up the room when he walked in, always smiling and happy. He idolized his parents and siblings and his life reflected the love and the values that all of the Dolans stand for. He has left us with a legacy of love and unselfishness and caring that permeated his whole life. May we all challenge ourselves to imitate Brian's commitment to love and to "do the right thing". Thanks for your example Brian, pray for all of us, you are a tough act to follow. God bless you.

From the Hudson family, please accept our deepest sympathy. We are all saddened to hear of Brian's passing. Brian will always be remembered for his great charm and wit. He was a strong and passionate person and was loved and respected by everyone who met him. His memory will live on in our hearts for as long as we live. I'm certain that Elmer, Mary, Pat and CLH met him at the pearly gates to welcome him in.

And as our lives go on, find solace in a beautiful quote from Leo Buscaglia I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

May Brian rest in peace and God bless John, Brigid and the entire Dolan family.

As a policeman, police-labor leader and friend, Brian had no equal. I will never forget our great times spent in Jeff City and here, in St. Louis. He wasn't just strong in strength, he was strong in heart. You left too soon, pal, but your time wasn't wasted. God will take care of you, this I know.

Brian, my friend, my fellow brother with SLMPD, you were one of a kind. I only hope you know the impact you have left on all of us. Your children are a testimate of that.

I am at such a loss at the sudden death of my Uncle Brian. Although this void will never been filled and our hearts are broken we must call upon the strength that my Uncle had and take his two children, my cousins under our wings. My heart breaks for them. Uncle Bri, your memory will carry on with every story shared, every laughter, every time Mack the Knife is played and every tear shed because we miss you. Our sole comfort now is that you are with your Mom, Dad and Brother Pat. This isn't good-bye but see you later. I'll miss you terribly but know that you are being blessed with a much greater purpose. I love you.
