Kerr, Charles Edward
Charles Edward Kerr passed away on February 2, 2021, one day after his 80th birthday. Charles or "Chuck" to many of his friends, was born in Springfield, Illinois on February 1, 1941 to the late Hester and Edward Kerr. His sister Susan Kerr of Springfield preceded him in death. His late partner of over 40 years, Henry Collison passed away on June 2, 2017. Charles had an extremely positive outlook on life. As a Boy Scout, Chuck achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1956. Chuck attended Springfield High School, MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL and Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, WI majoring in the field of Interior Design and Architectural Design, graduating in 1964. Before moving to Chicago in 1978, Chuck received a great deal of recognition as an interior designer focusing on residential and restaurant design. He owned several decorative arts businesses starting in 1967 with KERR-OBERBECK, INC., St. Louis, MO and then Newton & Kerr Associations of both Saint Louis, MO and Chicago, IL. Chuck was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and participated on their architectural design committee. Memorial Contributions may be made to LAMBDA LEGAL, Chicago and the Missouri Botanical Garden, Saint Louis, MO. A Memorial Service for Charles, will be held when we can all go out together in person.

Chuck was such a wonderful friend for many years. he is surely missed by all his Michigan friends. So many fun times at the cottage with Chuck and Henry his wonderful husband.

We so enjoyed Chuck's friendship. Whenever we were together, we laughed heartily while we enjoyed wonderful food and conversation. He made every occasion an event! We are missing him. Our sympathy to all who loved him. God's peace.
