I didn't get the chance to spend as much time with you as I would have liked to have spent, and I'm left with a lot of unanswered questions about things that only you seemed willing to try to answer. You are going to be missed very much by me even though we didn't get the opportunity to get to know each other very well. In my eyes You Are, And Always Will Be My Grandfather In My Heart ! From what little bit of time that I have gotten to spend with you, you made me feel like I found the answer to the question that I have been wondering about all of my life. You're a very special man, thank you for the time that you shared with me, I'll never forget that !! Go with peace and the knowledge that I care about you greatly Mr. Millburn.

Mel, you were one of a kind and a true gentleman. I will always remember all the wonderful stories, (life is complicated), that you told us. You always lit up a room with your smile. You are in a better place now and at peace with your dear Millie. I admired the love you had for each other. May you rest in peace.

Dear Grandpa. Youll always be on my mind. Without you, our family would be missing a generation. I wouldnt be without you, and nor would many people in the family. Youll always be my favorite grandpa, as well as the smartest and nicest of them all. I never got to hold a long conversation with you in my life, so i hope to one day we all meet together. We all miss you.

Dear Dad,
I'm grateful for a father who taught me right from wrong, to be courteous to others, to respect my elders, honesty, integrity and responsibility for my actions...not to mention the virtues of being neat and tidy!
You instilled a sense of pride for our family heritage, taught me to love and respect all animals...God's little creatures, you called them. Growing up you gave us a beautiful home that stands today as testament to your skills and your pride and hard work in all you did.
I have fond memories of our 'river days' and how you taught me to drive a boat with expertise, how we camped out on sand bars and waterskiing...you and I would go off early mornings when the "Mighty Mississippi" would be "a sheet of glass" as you called it, and we'd ski to our hearts content.
You were always there for me during my 'apartment days' when you would show up, tools in hand, and make sure I was in a safe place with a new deadbolt lock on my door or secure my windows. You were an excellent cook in your retirement days, always beaming with a special something you would "whip up" for us to enjoy.
You must have inherited the "Santa" gene, for growing up you made our home warm and cozy with Christmas lights and music...it was always your favorite time of year, and even into adulthood you made us feel like we were still "kids" with your Christmas spirit.
Yes, you will be missed, but the fact that you lived a long life, that you were able to travel, and that we did all kinds of fun things with you makes me to smile through our loss. I'll always be one of your "Little Girls" and you will always be my Papa. You hold a special place in my heart, and until we meet again...well, "make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh...
Your Claudia

Dad,
From my first memories, I knew that, I had been blessed with a Special Man for my Father. We were not blessed with a Lot of Money, but a large family. But compared to my friends growing up, they thought we were Rich because we had a larger house in a nice Neighborhood. That was because you build it yourself. Things that we couldn't afford to just buy, you made. You didn't just make then, you made them better and more creatively. You made our childhood lives like a wonderland, the Special Things you made. Like the different Colored Bubbles coming up thru tubes to the ceiling from a Planter near the front door that would change colors. It was so unique every one who came over Marveled at it. College Professors from Washington University thought you should pursued being an Artist, but you continued to drive a bus, so you could provide for your family. Getting up very early in the morning to go to work so you could get off early and Work on and around our house giving us so much more than you had growing up. Then in the wee hours of the night, you worked on your Art projects. Sculpture Gardens in our Back Yard and Fountains that we could even swim in! There was so much beauty, excitement and fun around our home. We all have many things that you made for us, to treasure and remember you by. You are a Hard Act to follow, but I try. You taught me to set the bar high and give it my very best.
I remember Big Hugs and Prickly Kisses for your Well Groomed Mustache!
You taught me to never ever hurt any animals, that they were to be treasured and appreciated. I still to this day have that love of nature. When I see Squirrels Rabbits, Deer and the Birds I will think of you. I will feed to Honor you.
Boating and Water Skiing, you taught us all how to and we excelled at it. I still remember you Tanned, Bearded, Muscular, Chewing a small cigar and coaxing me to just give it one more try ( after drinking half the Mississippi River) Trying to get up on water skis. There I was crying to stop, then up like a cork I came, Big Grin on my face( like I always Knew I could do it). Believing that, from that time forward I could do anything, I tried hard enough to do!
Holidays were so special, always getting a card and warm wishes from you. I remember Champagne Breakfast for Christmas Mornings. I could always count on you to do something really personal and special. You were my Rock! They will be the hardest times. I will never forget you!
As we matured you and I had many conversations about life. I could always depend on you to have an opinion, sometimes much different that my own. No matter how unusual mine may have been to you, you listened, Thank you. You were very Sentimental in Life and about our family heritage. You were so proud of our heritage and you passed that on to me.
I will be missing you, till we meet again. I am sure you will have by then, Decked out Heaven with many Masterpieces for God and all of us to enjoy.
Love You,
Ronnie

And when the hourglass is empty
And my life on earth has passed
May the footprints I leave behind me
Remain in the hearts of those I love.
A quote held dear to Mel...

Dad,
You have left me with so many happy memories...teaching me to love nature and "God's little creatures", drive a car, fix things, being your helper when you needed another hand, enjoying your cooking and so much more. Whenever I needed help with anything, you were always there for me. You and these memories, especially those I hold dear, will forever remain in my heart. Thanks for being my Dad...I love you.

I just spent some time watching the video with it's memories of your father and his life. It gave me a sense of who Mel was: a man of his time, who had a warm heart and a happy spirit. I am so sorry for your loss, Pat and Claudia.

Goodbye to Dad, our Little Boy Blue
Our only Dear Sweet Mel
A journey begun...and one journey past
We've so many stories to tell.
A life full of joy, and a bit of grief
But most of all there was love...
And that is what he leaves with us
He leaves us all his love.

I'm so sorry to hear about Mel's passing. I have such fond memories of time spent with Mel and my Dad at Grand Circle. I know that both Mel and Dad enjoyed being together at Macaroni Grill. We will miss them both. You are all in our prayers, but I bet both Dad and Mel are having a great time together again. I'm sorry that we will not be able to make the visitation but we hope to see you again soon.
