I am sitting here in my office listening to CNN and they have a segment called "The Person Who Changed My Life". As I was listening I started thinking about the person who changed my life. I immediately reminisced about this wonderful lady who taught me bookkeeping at Mercy High School in 1969. I have thought of her frequently and fondly over the years as that person who changed my life. I have been an accountant and CPA for over 48 years and I owe a large portion of that to Ms. Geekie. I just googled her name just to see what I got. I was saddened to see she pasted but even more saddened that I have missed my opportunity to express my thanks in person for what she did for me and I am sure so many other kids. My prayers will be for her and her family.

Mrs. Geekie taught me typing in 1976 at JFK. At first I thought she was stern and humorless, but I eventually caught on to her dry wit and sense of fun. She was a great teacher and a really caring lady. My sympathies to her family.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I remember your mother fondly as she taught me shorthand at John F. Kennedy back in 1971. I have been an administrative assistant for 40 years and thanks to your mom she taught me my skills.

As others have said, a tough but fair teacher. I imagined her to be the same at home...and in that regard she reminded me of my own mother. My sympathy to the family. Ellen Murphy, JFK Class of '75

Mrs. Geekie was my home room and typing teacher in 1982. I always tell folks that it was the most practical course that I ever took and I use those skills every day.
We were lucky to have her as a teacher. She was tough but fair and my sincere condolences go out to her family.

I will miss visiting Mrs. Geekie. I appreciated her humor and insights into world events. She never stopped teaching. She taught my mom in high school at her first teaching job at Mercy and shared stories about my mom and dad when they dated in high school. Who knew that 30+ years later she would be the moderator of the National Honor Society for me at Kennedy? She enlightened me about so much, such as teaching during the Vietnam War, when her students were drafted and not all made it back alive. Mrs. Geekie loved getting updates on her former students, no matter how many decades ago she taught them. More than anything, she loved her family. She could not contain her pride and joy in her sons, grandchildren, and the rest of the family. I will miss you, Mrs. Geekie, but I will keep your lessons close to me always.

Mrs. Geekie was my shorthand teacher at Mercy High School. I remember her well. I did well in her class; my shorthand skills helped me get my foot in the door of a corporation I wanted to work for. I once saw her at Famous-Barr with her two young sons when I was working there part-time my senior year. I remember her as gracious, fair, and interested in her students. To her family - Please accept my condolences and may she rest in eternal peace and light.

Ms. Geekie was one of my high school teachers at Mercy High School. I can remember her classes and her enthusiasm for not only the subject matter but for the students. I must admit that this was the only class I EVER had a failing grade in and I deserved it. After a conference with her & my parents I always earned an A in her class. And, as it turns out, became a business teacher as well. She taught practical life skills and made us all aware of what to expect beyond the classroom in terms of practical life skills and how to make it in our economic system. She was quite a unique teacher, person and meant a great deal to me in my decisions as I matured. My condolences to the entire family. Jack Jamieson Class of 1968
