Anastasoff, Faye M.
Devoted educator, much-loved mother and grandmother, cherished friend, Faye M. Anastasoff passed away peacefully May 12, 2022 in Santa Fe, NM where she had moved to be with her daughter. Formally of Chesterfield, MO, Faye was born in Novinger, MO to William McClelland Ewing and Betty Mischa Ewing (Sparks) on October 28, 1936. Youngest sister to Virgil, David, and Naomi, the family later moved to Kirksville, MO. Faye graduated from Kirksville High in 1954, excelling in music and track which earned her scholarships to NE Missouri State Teachers College. She began teaching in the Bayless School District in the late 1950s, earning her BS degree in Elementary Education in 1966. She then joined the Clayton School District where she taught first grade until her retirement in 1999, earning an MA in Education at Webster University along the way. Her long career was marked by her passionate commitment to the teaching profession, and to every single child passing through her classroom full of music and light, ensuring that each felt seen, loved, and successful. She was a proud member of the NEA, the country's largest union, and counted many teachers among her dearest friends. Faye loved her children and grandchildren, her special circle of bike club friends, and the dear ones who blessed her with friendship later in life. She was a warm, gracious, generous friend to all. There's an Angel Band in heaven gathered around her piano (Nancy Wilson meets Levon Helm). Gone home, swingin'! Condolences can be shared with her daughters at [email protected].

Faye was quite a special woman who I was blessed to know. Many hours were spent talking, sharing stories, having lunch and more. , We drove around St. Louis before she moved to Santa Fe looking at her prior homes, sentimental spots and of course she wanted to go back to Meramec school. She wanted to look one last time at her home away from home and reflect on her work family and children. we were able to see the statue and bench she lovingly gave when she retired. Faye loved teaching and she loved every child she came in contact with. Faye saw the good in everyone. The angels in Heaven are singing along as she plays her piano.

Faye had all 3 of our children. She greeted them each morning with a song.. her upright piano displayed proudly in her classroom. She taught us that Meramec was a family and that our kids were a part of a circle of friends. Her songs still ring in our heads... what a wonderful teacher

Faye was a wonderful teacher. And, a warm, caring person. She taught our sons at Meramec School in Clayton. She added a great deal to the joy and experience of learning for over 1,000 children in Clayton alone.
