George Griffard Obituary

Griffard, George A.

Griffard, George A., 83, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in his hometown.

Born and raised in St. Louis, George was a lifelong resident who took pride in his roots and cherished the community that shaped him. He spent his career at Anheuser-Busch, where he was known for his dedication and camaraderie with colleagues.

George was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. Whether gathered around the dinner table or cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals with a Budweiser, George's warmth, quick wit, and easygoing charm made every moment memorable. His sense of humor was legendary-he had a knack for making people laugh and feel welcome, no matter the occasion.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Griffard (Klein); his parents, Norbert and Marie Griffard; and his siblings Leo Griffard, Susan Kuhnert, Jerry Griffard, Danny Griffard, and Mary Ann Griffard. He is survived by his son Michael Griffard, daughter Patricia Breid, brother Pat Griffard, and his treasured grandsons Sam, Ethan, Peter, and Noah. George also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his laughter, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel like family.

George's legacy is one of humor, hospitality, and heart-a man who never missed a game and never missed a chance to brighten someone's day.

Services: Visitation on Thursday, August 21st from 9:00-10:00am at Holy Infant Catholic Church in Ballwin, Missouri. Mass at 10:00am, with a luncheon to immediately follow in the lower cafeteria. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Cardinals Care. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Just saw this...knew George when I was in high school, working at the same restaurant in Rock Hill (Nahm's Nook). He was a wonderful, positive friend, a good guy, characteristics which per this obit he obviously retained throughout his life. Sorry that we lost track way back then.

I am very sorry to have missed this celebration of life today. Just read the obit this evening. I went to grade school and high school with George and we were very close friends throughout. Had no idea he was still living in St. Louis. I'm very sorry we never reconnected after high school. What a nice friend and a nice fella George was...

Tricia, Your dad sounds like he was a great father. Fun-loving and laughter brings so much joy to life. I know you'll miss that - and at those times remember a funny story about him, then think of all the laughter he's bringing to heaven!

George was such a wonderful man who ADORED his family and was truly kind to everyone he knew. George will always hold a special place in my heart. He was the person who hired me to work at Anheuser-Busch and of course was one of the best things in my life.
George thank you!
You walked the walk and I will forever be grateful to you
