Henry Urbanowicz Obituary
March 20, 1946 - February 18, 2025
Henry F Urbanowicz, affectionately known as "Uncle Hank," to the Kaminski and Kruszynski families passed away on February 18 2025 in Denver CO. Born in Germany on March 20th 1946 Hank immigrated to St. Louis MO with his parents, Zygmunt and Regina Urbanowicz in 1949. A proud graduate of DeAndreis High School and the University of Miami, Hank was a tremendous athlete and excelled in baseball and football. In 1966, the St. Louis Cardinals drafted him in the first round to play first base but he chose to pursue his passion for football at his beloved University of Miami. His talent on the field led to his selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 8th round of the 1968 NFL Draft. Though an injury ended his professional career prematurely, his love for sports remained a defining part of his life. Hank later moved to Denver for a job opportunity and quickly made it his home. His career included serving as Director of Operations for a professional hockey team, where he combined his love for sports with his professional expertise. Whether donning a suit for work or khakis on the golf course he remained deeply connected to athletics throughout his life. Uncle Hank you will be dearly missed!

Hank and I were close friends and teammates at Junior College in Joplin, MO in 1964. I went on to Wichita State University and we lost contact. I periodically looked for Hank on Facebook but never could find him. Recently, a friend suggested looking in "Obituaries". Sadly, I found that Hank had passed away in February of this year. My sincere condolences to Hanks family. I am truly sad we never made contact in the years following college. RIP old friend .

Sorry to hear of 'Urban's' passing. I knew Hank from DeAndreis and Jim Muehlmann. Many moons ago there were a group of us that would regularly spend 3 or 4 nights a week at Jim's house and Hank would be there often. We were Seniors and Hank was a sophomore but he fit in like a glove.

Hank was the pride of DeAndreis Class of '64 for his prowess on the field and on the basketball court. A great athlete and good person. RIP Hank.

Hank was my classmate, teammate and dear friend in a relationship that truly passed the test of time. We made one another a complete pair!!! RIP Henry!! Also known by me as "Baby Huey" in High School. We were joined at the hip for sure. He will be missed!!
