Jane Eakin Obituary
Eakin, Jane (nee Spiegel) on Saturday, June 23, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Tom S. Eakin, Jr.; daughter of the late Edwin J. Spiegel and Ruth Hall Spiegel; sister of the late Edwin J. Spiegel, Jr., sister-in-law of Joy Spiegel; loving aunt of Scott and Anna Bland Aston and their daughters Annalee and Mary Katherine Aston, aunt of Carol and Bud Ramey and Ed and Nancy Spiegel; dear friend of Carolyn and Steven Harpole. Mrs. Eakin was a life long resident of St. Louis. She grew up across from Forest Park, before Highway 40 was built and shared many pleasant memories of exploring Forest Park as a child. She was a graduate of University City High School, attended Sweetbriar College and was a graduate of Washington University of St. Louis. After her graduation from college, Mrs. Eakin worked for the Red Cross and conducted psychometric testing for Mary Institute and several other high schools in the area. Upon retiring, she was an active volunteer with Red Cross for many years. She was a longstanding member of Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church and The Wednesday Club. The extreme kindness and thoughtfulness she shared with her family, friends and so many others she encountered throughout her life will be deeply missed.Services: A memorial service will be held at Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, 9450 Clayton Rd., Ladue, on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Private Entombment Oak Grove Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, (63124) or The American Red Cross, Attention Financial Development, St. Louis Bi-State Chapter, 10195 Corporate Square Drive, St. Louis, MO 63132-9680.
