I have just found out of John's passing. My heartfelt condolences to Judy and family. John was a true gentleman and I have had the privilege of working with him and knowing him during my tenure with Petrolte Singapore. John was a true colleague and a very dear friend. He will be missed

After a chance meeting with one of the McCartney neighbors at St. Luke's Hospital last week, we learned of John's passing. My husband Jake (Claude Jacobs) played on the SLU baseball team CF, was a manager of the basketball team and graduated together with John from St. Louis U. I attended all the home basketball games in 1958. Jake was 82 this past March and is looking forward to 83. Please accept our condolences at this sad time. Jake (Claude) & Gerry Jacobs

Mary/Jim, and John's Family, please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of your brother John. I had the privilege of playing in a golf tournament with John a couple years ago at Greenbriar. What a great guy! I know he will be greatly missed.

Mr. McCartney was the best. I have so many fond memories of him fishing at Rockbridge, hunting ducks and telling me stories about my Dad in law school. He will missed.

There can be no better couple and family than the McCartneys, and their friendship are very special.
Trudie & I go back to 1956, when John was the shortstop & I 2nd base for that famous keystone combination at SLU, and remember that great home run over the fence against Detroit.
Our golf group will miss John and his cleaning up the tee boxes of those broken tees, and we will remember him every time we hit the tee box with broken tees.
John & Judy will remain in our prayers forever... there were no greater friends and family.

I will never forget those nights watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs on that TV your dad used to set up on the patio. He will be watching this year's Cup in heaven and maybe he can pull some strings for our team.

Judy and family, I had the privilege to enjoy Johns company on several pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota, talking baseball, hunting. Speaking for the other guys- Joe, Steve, Jerry, Jim, Mac, I extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of a great guy, a true gentlemen! We will have a toast in his honor. He will be missed.

Dearest McCartney Family, The Gronemeyer family sends our sympathy and love. John was very special to us. His visit on Christmas eve morning meant so much to us. I know he is sharing a few laughs and new jokes with my dad & many other angels up there.

We remember John with great fondness and admiration from his days as a summer playground teacher/coach at Sublette Park in the mid-50's!!! He always seemed to have a smile and had great stories to share with us 'kids.' RIP

Judy and family: I was privileged to begin law school with John McCartney, and, 59 years later, can think of no person with greater accomplishment, more good humor, more optimism than John. It was impossible to know John and not to love him, and we all are heartbroken. We know he will rest in deserved peace.
