Dear Karla and Family:
Please accept my deepest condolences upon the passing of John. I admired John from the first day I met him, in the early 1990's at Mallinckrodt (Covidien, Tyco). I always found him to be driven, very fair, and sincerely honest. I've often used John's demeanor and professional style as a benchmark, and will continue to do so. I truly enjoyed working with John on projects over the years, and oftentimes told him how refreshing it was to know where you stood and why on any issue.
John understood the balance of family, work, and community support…and I enjoyed supporting the soccer and equestrian fund raising events over the years, a chance to meet Karla and his children. In short, John had a heart of gold…and will be very missed by family and friends!

John Scott was a great mentor. He taught me how to set clear business goals and comprehensive objectives in a changing environment. Helped me create an appropriate mindset to understand what success meant and how to achieve it. Brilliant encourager and kind business coach. I can still hear his soft voice telling: "Jimmy, the only thing you can control is yourself, anything else outside of your sphere use your capacity to influence them......" Hey John: Go now, join the Angels and tell them how much difference you made down here. You will be missed.

To the Scott Family:
Please accept my deepest condolences upon the passing of John. I had the privilege of working with John at Tyco Healthcare. John was a true professional who went out of his way to provide on-target and practical support to me and the entire organization. He had a deep care and concern for his work, his colleagues and the people we support. You must be very proud of the many, many lives that John has touched and the impact that he has made to so many during his career.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I met John on his first day at Mallinckrodt. I was in a Beginning Supervisor class and Rich introduced John as his newest department member. John spoke to us about leadership and from that moment on I knew he was a special person. He walked the walk. He got it and he shared it. In later classes, he told us all to create "feel good" folders and to add something to it all the time. He shared his feel good folder contents with us. I will not forget John as he changed my life and I know many others feel the same. At the end of the day, it was his wife and children who captured his attention and at this tragic time, I hope you will take comfort in knowing we appreciate your sharing John - it was our privilege to know him. God bless you John.

Few men have touched as many people as John. I am forever grateful for his wit, humor and his counsel. When people are late to a meeting. I will often use Johns words that he used in every class, " No worries, your just in time".

Dear Scott Family,

I am very sad to hear about John. John was everyone's big brother, always keeping an eye on us and offering advice, wanted or not. I remember hanging out and talking and playing softball in the court. There were always plenty of kids around. And one other thing, John helped me pass Algebra. The funny thing is, even though we are all grown up and have kids of our own, I mostly think of as kids.

Karla and Family,
Our deepest and most sincere condolences in the untimely loss of John. We were friends for over 20 years but John was more like a brother to me. It seems like yesterday when we awarded John and Karla rookies of the year in skiing at Gore Mountain in Upstate NY. Fortunately for me, that bond and friendship has lasted ever since. He was a great man, someone we all should emulate. We will miss him and our thoughs and prayers are with the entire Scott family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

He always provided a cooler full of refreshments and was just a wonderful person to be around. He was one of those people that you wish could be around forever. I am so sorry for your loss. I met John when he worked at Mallinckrodt. He definitely influenced my life both personally and professionally. He was a person that genuinely cared about those that he met and you could see that in his actions. He lived each day as an example of what he was teaching. He knew that I was a person that liked hugs so when I saw him I always got a hug and a great smile. He touched my life and there are things that he taught me that will be a part of me forever and makes me a better person today. I know this has got to be a difficult time for you all but just know that we share in your loss and will be praying for comfort and peace in these coming days. God Bless you all.
