John Setlich Obituary

Setlich, John Reed On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, John Reed Setlich passed away at the age of 61. Reed was born August 12, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Andrew and Emma Jane (Thiebaud) Setlich. After graduating high school Reed moved to Florida to train and work as an electrician and construction worker. Upon returning to St. Louis he set up his own electrical company which thrived for 30 years. Reed was also a highly talented craftsman and artist. He found inspiration in a great variety of media, especially exotic woods that he turned into whimsical, beautiful art. He was known and loved for his many talents, quirky humor, and adventurous spirit. Reed is survived by his loving mother Jane, brothers Mark and Rand, sisters Susan and Lisa, dearest friend Alice, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends. He touched and enriched all of our lives. Reed will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him so dearly. A Celebration of Reed's Life will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 1 to 4pm at St. Louis Elk's Lodge #9, 12481 Ladue Road, Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141. Voluntary donations may be made to a local Children's charity of choice, since Reed was always a child at heart, forever playful and creative, or to cancer research at American Cancer Society in honor of Reed Setlich.

I knew Reed for years. He helped me do many times. With my struggling business. He fixed my house too as a single mom it was hard to trust people.
I counted on him and he always came thru even when I was broke. He built both my beauty shops. We would always talk world affairs. And of course business and relationship. I miss him and his grumpiness. He always called me D. Rip wonderful soul my you rest now in the arms of the Angels who took you from US way too soon. No more suffering.

I had the good fortune of meeting Reed through his brother Mark. We spent a little time working on a small electrical project. I admired Reed's sense of humor and envied his smile and laughter. I wish I could have spent more time with him. I wish him well on his new journey and I am certain that he will make everyone smile on the way. May God bless Reed.

Always and forever a good friend and excellent person. Reed lived life on his own terms.
I am fortunate to have known him and participate in his experience.
