To the Bonwich Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. My family and I were stunned by the sad news. Joe was such a wonderful person, with great knowledge of the food industry. He appreciated and showcased local talent, and the international cuisines in the St. Louis area as it was evidenced by the various Let's Eat articles during the time he was with the Post.
May all the wonderful memories you have help the family get through these difficult times.

To JENNIE and the BONWICH FAMILY:
Please know of our deepest prayerful sympathy on the passing of noted U. NEWS and SLU alumnus JOE BONWICH. JOE's talented journalism skills which he honed initially here led to his remarkable media career as a regular newspaper columnist, reporter and media executive. He will be remembered--and missed! Our sympathies to you and his family.

Met Joe about 1983. He was covering the Miss Universe story for RFT. It became the story of the year. He was the nicest guy and got the story right! Miss you Joe!! He was so proud of his wife and daughters!

I am stunned and saddened by the news of Joe's passing. We worked together at the Journal newspapers close to 40 years ago, covering and editing sports stories at the old South Side Journal offices on Chippewa. Joe's intellect and humor were so far above everyone else there. You knew he had a career in Journalism ... if that was what he wanted. But you knew he would have options. We were golf buddies and shared a love of that game, but we drifted apart as family and subsequent careers intervened. We did correspond in recent years but I now wish we had done more of it. I regret not taking the opportunity more seriously when presented with it. I will miss him. God bless his family and his many friends.

Such a great personal and beautiful speech by Joseph, only a couple of weeks ago at the wedding of his daughter Lily and my nephew Gerard.
An inspiring family man, for ever ....
My condolences to all his beloved ones.
