Schneider Jr., Leo J.

April 24, 1929 - April 29, 2025

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, peacefully passed away, April 29, 2025, at the age of ninety-six (96). He was the beloved Husband of the late Jeanette M. Schneider (Nee Jokisch) for 70 years; loving Father of Christine Mary (Fred G.) Amad, Lee J. Schneider, Jean Marie (Louis A.) Criso, Sr., and Lynn Marie (Michael J.) Broderick.

He was a beloved son, brother, cousin, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great, great uncle, and friend to many.

Leo was born on April 24, 1929, and attended Resurrection Catholic church and grade school and Southside high school which a year later became St. Mary's high school. He worked in a print shop with his father and later worked as a print setter at the St. Louis Post Dispatch where he retired in 1982. He met the love of his life, Jeanette, when he was 20 years old. Later, the two married and had four beautiful children. Leo loved his wife and children and worked hard to support them. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in South, Saint Louis. He was a Parish usher, member of the Parish Men's club and Knights of Columbus. He was a long-time member of the Travelers Protective Association (TPA), became President of the Association, and member of the Board of Directors. He was also Secretary of Victory Credit Union and was on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed playing cork ball, cards, and bowling. However, his lifetime favorite sport was golf and was a marshal at Quail Creek Golf Course after his retirement. He loved traveling with his wife Jeanette throughout the US and enjoying many cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, the Mediterranean, and more.

Leo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jeanette M. Schneider (Nee Jokisch), his father, Leo J. Schneider, Sr., his mother, Alvina C. Schneider (nee Luepker), his father-in-law, George Jokisch, mother-in-law, Cecilia Jokisch (nee Liermann ), stepmother, Matilda Schneider, His sisters, Alvira (Stanley) Kilfoyle (nee Schneider, Marian (Robert) Spinn (nee Schneider), His brother Gerald F. Schneider, his sister- in -laws Mary (Gerald) Schneider, Celeste (George) Ottoline (née Jokisch), Janice (James) Menendez (nee Jokisch), Virginia (George) Jokisch,), brothers-in-laws, James Menendez, George Ottoline, Edward Federhofer, stepbrother-in-law, Richard (Audrey) Avetta, and his nephew, Thomas Menendez.

He is survived by his; children, Christine M. (Fred G.) Amad, Lee J. Schneider, Jean M. (Louis A.) Criso, Sr., Lynn M. (Michael J.) Broderick; grandchildren, Frederick C. Amad, Christian F. (Tracie R.) Amad, Adam L. (Abbie) Schneider, Ryan C. Schneider, Daniel A. (Melissa) Schneider, Louis A. Criso, Jr., Ashley M. Criso, Alexis M. Criso, Valerie M. Broderick, and Anthony M. Broderick; and great-grandchildren, Ava E. Amad, Samuel F. Amad, Frederick K. Amad, Grace E. Amad, Sloane S. Schneider, Logan E. Schneider, Blake M. Schneider, August C. Schneider, Claudia G. Schneider; brother-in-law, George Jokisch, Jr., sister-in-law, Virginia Federhofer (nee Jokisch).

SERVICES: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service and burial for the family will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Travelers Protective Association, 2041 Exchange Drive, St. Charles, MO 63303, The Alzheimer's Association, or any charitable organization.

Leo was such a kind man. I really enjoyed getting to know him while he was at Mattis Pointe. He always had a great story to tell and he always had fun when we went on our bus trips! Rest in peace buddy.
