I admired Martha Flynn very much. She had an inner joy that came through outwardly. I remember her as being reminded suddenly of a line in a song and singing it, maybe with a little tap dance. Her outlook on life was sunny and cheerful. She smiled a lot, as well, even through the bad times, she did not complain. She will be greatly missed. Shirley Winkelhoch

Mrs. Flynn was my 4th grade teacher at St. Dominic Savio. Of all of my past teachers she holds a special place in my heart. She not only taught me daily lessons but life lessons. Thank you Mrs. Flynn; you will be dearly missed.

Martha was the best mother-in-law. She accepted, loved, spoiled and never gave advice. She was all the positive adjectives everyone has mentioned and she did it with dignity. She never let her illness define her. One description that never changed throughout the decades was that of Superwoman and the Energizer Bunny all rolled up together in one package. I will always be thankful that she came into my life.
What Cancer Cannot Do
Author: Unknown
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.

My mother was a close childhood friend of Martha's although I did not know it until my middle age. My own Mom died young. Last winter Martha was so kind and gracious, that even while ill she gave me the greatest gift. She gathered up my Mom's childhood friends, some photos and a lifetime of stories I never knew. That luncheon gave rich memories of a fun and innocent time. Others told me what a wonderful person Martha was to so many over the years. Apparently she never lost that joy of making others happy, even in her last year. You know the ones who mean the most, for they leave the biggest hole. Our challenge is to grow into that void by keeping their example alive in ourselves.

What a blessing to have Mrs. Flynn as my fourth grade teacher. She was gracious to also attend our 30th reunion in 2000. She truly shared her love of God in her manner of teaching. God's blessings to the Flynn family as you remember your loved one!

Mrs. Flynn was my 4th grade teacher at St. Dominic's. I will always remember waiting for her to turn the corner so we could help her carry in her stuff, her famous point followed by "OH", and yes I also remember as mentioned the funny hats she wore while playing the piano with her great spirit. Yes, if ever asked her age she always replied that she was 99! What a wonderful teacher she was! May your family find peace in knowing how many lives she touched. I am glad I got the pleasure to see her at the school picnics and church. Class of '76

I shall never forget her upbeat manner, her easy rendition of the line of a song with a little tap dance to boot, always positive, smiling, never complaining. She was an accomplished storyteller, friend, bridgeplayer, tennis player, teacher, friend. She set an example for many. God bless you Martha. Shirley Winkelhoch

I remember my Aunt Martha as the most upbeat, outgoing and cheerful member of the Flynn family. She will be missed by so many. No wonder her students loved her.

Mrs. Flynn was my 2nd grade teacher at St. Dominic's. I will always remember the funny hats she wore while playing the piano and how if ever asked her age she always replied that she was 99! What a wonderful teacher she was! May your family find peace in knowing how many lives she touched.

If heaven wasn't organized before, it surely is now that Martha is present. Tennis players, bridge players stay alert. Surely those knitting needles click three times faster up there. What a wonderful LADY! We're so fortunate to have known her. There aren't enough adjectives to describe Martha. May she rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her. We pray that God will grant Bob and family comfort in their loss.

Dear Flynn Family, It was a blessing to have had Mrs. Flynn in the fourth grade at St. Dominic. She was such a great teacher and will always be remembered. I did run across her at the Oakland House a few years back when she was reading stories to the children. Such a happy go lucky person, they sure will be getting another sweet angel up there in Heaven.

Mrs. Flynn was my fourth-grade teacher at St. Dominic Savio. She was a "coveted" teacher, meaning that we all wanted to have her as our teacher. That was hard to do with two teachers and over 80 kids. But, I was one of the fortunate ones to have this great lady teach me. She made learning fun. Heaven now has (another) great teacher!
