Miriam Gruenert Obituary

Gruenert, Miriam (nee Krueger), was called home to her Lord on May 15, 2008 at 84 years of age. She was born on Oct. 7, 1923 in Firth, NE to Fred and Anna Krueger. She moved to St. Louis to pursue her career as an R.N., where she met and married Neal J. Gruenert in 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband, Neal; her sister, Joan Schramm and her brother Dean Krueger; and is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (George) Halamicek and son, Gary (Susan) Gruenert; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Gruenert, Sara (Constantine) Malouf, Lisa (Aaron) Hunsaker and Matt Gruenert; great-grandchildren Sydney Gruenert and Constantine Malouf II. She grew up on the family farm and developed a love for horses which she road back and forth to school. She was very proud of receiving her R.N. Degree and enjoyed working at Lutheran Hospital, St. Louis. She worked part time while raising her family. She was also very proud of her family and was not afraid to let anyone know who would listen. She was very friendly and would start a conversation with anyone around her.Services:Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. (at Butler Hill), Sun., May 18, 4-8 p.m. then taken to Gethsemane Lutheran Church (765 Lemay Ferry, 63125) Mon., May 19 for visitation at 11:30 a.m. until service at 12:30 p.m. Interment National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her memory to the Alumni Association at Lutheran School of Nursing, Attn: Grace Poertner, 624 Rebecca, St. Charles, MO 63301. (Make check payable to Alumni Association and put Miriam's name in the memo section.) or to the Green Park Scholarship Fund, Green Park Lutheran School, Attn: Ann Anderson, 4248 Green Park Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125 (314)-544-4248 (Make check payable to Green Park Lutheran School and put Miriam's name in the memo.)
