Patti Bauer Obituary

Bauer, Patti Jane

September 26, 1947 - June 16, 2025

Patti Jane Bauer (nee Hawkins) was preceded in death by her husband, Carl T. Bauer, her parents, William J. & Bette J. Hawkins, and Carl's parents, Edward & Jean Bauer. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Tucker, and her family of multitudes of loving friends around the world.

Patti was born to William Junior Hawkins & Bette Jane (Bessel) on September 26, 1947 at Philadelphia Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, thus beginning an exciting and worldly journey through her seventy-seven years. She was born with a warm caring soul that she shared with all; a deep love of animals; and a steadfast loyalty to her friends.

Being the daughter of a career military father, Patti traveled the world, making lifelong friends along the way. She attended schools in Malta and Japan during her father's two tours of duty there. Sophia University in Tokyo was her college experience for two years before she returned to and graduated from University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1969. Her father's own words of pride and admiration spoke of how Patti's Navy family journey gave her confidence and perfected so many adaptable skills for her future endeavors. After graduation from Ole Miss, Patti taught school for several years.

Navy life resumed when she married Navy pilot, Carl T. Bauer, on August 1, 1975. Patti then spent many years working for Trans World Airlines, making more friends worldwide. She loved to travel often with family and had years of traveling far and wide with her TWA friends.

Patti's loving heart and caring spirit were experienced by many. The devotion of her time and talents was genuine with veteran groups, scholarship programs, charitable organizations, and friends. Patti's skills and sense of design for everything from interior decorating, fashion, needlepointing, and knitting were unsurpassed. She embraced creating and sharing the results of her work with all. Good books surrounded Patti throughout her life as she was an avid reader and enjoyed lively discussions about books and current events. No matter the topic she could inject her sense of humor for a hearty round of laughter. Friends always delighted at Patti's ability to plan festive occasions with her signature details and style for holidays, parties, or even routine book club meetings. Patti knew how to make everything sparkle and fun. She will be deeply missed.

Burial service is being planned for Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. where Patti will be buried with her husband Carl. Details for this ceremony are pending.
