Peter Balfe Obituary
Peter was born in Milwaukee in 1974 to Marty and Dennis Balfe. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1979.
Peter placed great value on education. He attended St. Louis University High School, where he met friends who became his brothers. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, he went on to obtain a law degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and, subsequently, a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Laws from Washington University.
Peter loved the natural world, and found great joy in hiking, running, and mis-identifying bird calls. He was especially fond of the Pacific Northwest and the area surrounding Lake Tahoe. Peter also loved music, theater, and art, and was equally at home in Los Angeles and New York City.
Peter is survived by his parents, Marty and Dennis, as well as his brother Paul, his sister Molly, his brother-in-law Dean, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and close friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of life is scheduled for November 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church in University City, MO. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to the Sierra Club or Forest Park Forever.

Dear Dr Balfe, Mrs Balfe, Paul, and Molly,
Please let me extend my most heartfelt condolences. Peter´s passing at such an early age is a tragedy and gutwrenching news for all of us who loved and celebrated him and who benefited from his wisdom, humor, and kindness. I sat with Peter nearly every day for lunch for three years in school and went to countless parties and games with him. To be in his presence was to encounter amusement, irony, wit, compassion, and humility. Peter always had a fresh take on the situations, events and people around him, and he loved to learn and read (and he did so quicker than most). He had a tremendous versatility- theatre, sports, languages- and an earnest curiosity about people.
I should also tell you he was very proud of his family and his friends, of which he was the truest. Saint Louis University High School was a better place because of him.
Thank you for raising such a beautiful son.
