James A. Gunthorp

1964 - 2016

James A. Gunthorp, 51, of Shipshewana, Ind., died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Gunthorp was born Sept. 17, 1964, in LaGrange, Ind., to Charles R. and Gloria M. (Baum) Gunthorp.
Living his lifetime in LaGrange County, he had worked at Lake Park Industries and ARC Thrift Store, both in Shipshewana, Ind. He was a member of Lima Presbyterian Church in Howe, Ind.
James was a loving father, son and brother. He will always be remembered for his loving heart.
In his youth, James competed in tough man contests and continued body building through the greater part of his life. He held a passion for good music, movies and NASCAR races.
Surviving are his daughter, Amber Nicole Gunthorp of Shipshewana, Ind.; his mother, Gloria Gunthorp of Howe, Ind.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sally and Gary Chavalia of Manton and Nancy Frohriep of Sturgis; and a brother Tony Gunthorp of Howe, Ind.
His father, Charles R. Gunthorp preceded him in death on March 17, 2004.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Ind. The Rev. David Hughes will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Howe, Ind.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Ark Animal Rescue.
