James Kirsch Obituary

James W. Kirsch, 62, of Sherwood, Ohio, and formerly of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at OSU James Wexler Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Jim was born Jan. 25, 1955, in Decatur, Ind., a son of the late Frederick and Mary Jane (Zinn) Kirsch. He was a 1973 graduate of South Adams High School in Berne, Ind. He attained his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Vincennes University in 1977. On Aug. 18, 1979, he married Marlena "Lennie" Baker in Ney, Ohio. Jim was employed by Kmart, working as an assistant manager and manager in Bryan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Sturgis, retiring in 2013 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Ney United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing and just putzing around the house. He loved Hawaii and had visited the island seven times. What he truly treasured was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Marlena "Lennie" Kirsch of Sherwood, Ohio; two children, Christine (Scott) Rohrs of Sherwood and Michael (Krista) Kirsch, also of Sherwood; four grandchildren, Megan and Caleb Rohrs, and Brayden and Paxton Kirsch; a brother, Robert (Carol) Kirsch of Ligonier, Ind.; and a sister, Carol Kirsch of Cape Coral, Fla.
Visitation for James W. Kirsch will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Lynn Street Chapel, 206 N. Lynn St., Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug, 19, 2017, at Ney United Methodist Church, 145 Rice St., Ney, Ohio, with the Rev. Dwight Bowers officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation also will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to Defiance County Relay For Life.

Lennie...praying for you and your family at this difficult time. Jim is finally out of pain, but that's not easy for the rest of you.
