Billy Clayton Obituary

Billy Jack Clayton

Sept. 10, 1941-July 8, 2018

Wiggins

Billy Jack Clayton, lifelong resident of Wiggins, MS, peacefully passed from this earth to the comfort of our Heavenly Father's arms on July 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Elisha Clayton and Ida Bell (McLendon) Clayton; his sister Sybil Harris; and his brother John Clayton.

Bill is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Dorothy Sharp Clayton; his children, son Aaron Clayton and daughter Sylvia Knight (Rob); brother, Edgar Clayton (Barbara) and sister Betty Clayton Williams (Charles); Grandchildren: James Clayton, Crystal Love (Ross), April Stone Merkle (J.D.), Leslie Ainsworth, and Matthew Garriga (Ashley). Great Grandchildren: Dylan, Elisha, Clara, Cameron, Jack, Braylee, Leighton and Riley. He was loved and respected by a slew of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends - and much too many to list.

Bill was a devoted born again Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone - A genuine family man. He served many years as a Deacon and always worked to honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His Unity Baptist church family was of a special importance in his life and he cherished every fellowship and worship moment with them. He was especially active in a wonderful Christian group (they called themselves "The Friday Night Gang")...These extra special relationships and the fellowship with this group meant so very much to him and Dorothy, too. Bill ("Paudy") most enjoyed spending time with his family and held a special bond with each and every member - He dearly treasured his relationship with each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very proud of them all. He was, for his entire life, a giving, understanding, strong, forgiving and kind man. The majority of his life's work was in the trucking industry and he absolutely loved it and remained actively interested in the industry his whole life. Bill was always available to help relatives and friends with any and every need. He truly loved ALL children (the "little ones" he called them) and he enjoyed household projects, tending vegetable gardens and flowers, a lifetime of pets and almost always could be seen wearing one of his hundreds of caps. In his later years, he picked up painting and drawing and delighted in sharing his art with family. He was immensely loved, respected and adored.

The family wishes to send their sincerest gratitude to those sending prayers and support in all the many forms so generously offered in their time of great sorrow. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Moore Funeral Service in Wiggins. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Moore Funeral Service in Wiggins.
