Richard Zitzmann Obituary

Richard Michael Zitzmann, 66, passed into the loving hands of his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 13, 201l. He is survived by his beloved wife,

Barbara Ratliff Zitzmann, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Tracey B. Stenger and husband Don, and Walter A.

"Tony" Barlow. He is also survived by his beautiful granddaughter Samantha Stenger. A resident of Diamondhead, MS since December, 2005.

Richie is survived by his sister, Althea Latour (Johnny), his brother, Ronald Zitzmann (Lois), sister-in-law, Rose Zitzmann and nieces and nephews. Son of the late Wilfred E. Zitzmann and Lucille Kettleberger Zitzmann. Preceded in death by his brother, Wilfred E. Zitzmann, Jr. and his nephew Michael

Zitzmann.

He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Metairie for many years before moving to Waveland, MS in 2004. Since 1995 he and Barbara had spent as much time as possible in Waveland as he was very active in the art community. He was an accomplished stained glass artist and owned Stained

Glass by Richie in Bay St. Louis. For over 20 years he was an employee at Delta Petroleum Co. lnc. in Metairie.

In 1982 Richie had a lifelong dream fulfilled by purchasing his first Corvette. He held the office of President of Crescent City Corvette Club for a number of years. During that time he was chairman of the National Council of Corvette Clubs convention held in New Orleans, LA in 1989.

Richie was a lifetime member of Crescent City Corvette Club and National Council of Corvette Clubs. He was also a member of the Spina Bifida

Association of Greater New Orleans and held the office of president and secretary for several years. The Spina Bifida Association was the charity that the Crescent City Corvette Club supported and thousands of dollars were raised to assist the members of the Spina Bifida Association. Richie thoroughly enjoyed the three Corvettes that he owned but his greatest joy was helping others.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Richie was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bay St. Louis and the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, 141 Main St., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Richie and I were first cousins. His Dad, Wilfred, and my Dad, John, were brothers. Although I didn’t see Richie very often, he was always a pleasure to be around. I very much enjoyed our infrequent encounters. My deepest condolences to all of Richie’s family. I know he will be missed.

Richie and I were first cousins. His Dad and my Dad were brothers. We used to get together often when growing up, but time and work have a way of creating distance. I last talked to Richie in 2005 at our Dad's funeral. Sincere condolences from the North Louisiana Zitzmann family.

My deepest condolences go out to Richie's family. He was a prince. He helped me through bad times and got me started in the Corvette club. Even though we have not been in touch over the last years, he has always been in my heart and prayers. I have lost a dear, dear friend but where he is going there is no pain and distress. May God take him in his open arms and see his kindness and compassion. You will be sadly missed by the many people who had their lives touched by him. God Bless You, Richie.
