Carolyn Payne Obituary

Payne, Carolyn P. Payne, age 90, of Pompano Beach, went to her heavenly home on December 3, 2008. She was born on August 4, 1918 in Monticello, Georgia and was a daughter of Dr. & Mrs. James W. Payne. She had 2 sisters and a brother. Carolyn came to Pompano in 1947 to begin a 30 year career as Librarian at Pompano High School upon her graduation from Georgia State College for Women. She later received a degree from Vanderbilt-Peabody University. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach and the Florida Retired Eductors Assn. She is survived by her brother James W. Payne of Pineview, GA and 2 devoted nieces, Mrs. Carol Gordon of Douglas, GA and Mrs. Mary Burke of Baxley, GA. Graveside services will be held at West View Cemetery in Monticello, GA under the direction of Jordon Funeral Home. Local arrangements by Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N. Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062.

I am so sorry to hear of another one of my Teachers, even if Ms Payne was a Librarian, She was also a teacher to us who used her Library . She helped us to fine the books needed in our study's as well as something we needed for a book report. I will miss her Go with God
