Eli Hendricks Obituary

Hendricks , Eli , our beloved, has moved into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eli died in hospice care at the VA Medical Center of West Palm Beach, FL on August 1, 2007. He was born in Barlow, KY 83 years ago. He moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1954 and retired to Palm City, FL in 1994. Eli was a US Army Veteran of World War II and, after being captured in Africa, was held as a prisoner of war for 865 days. He retired from Frank Edelen Buick of Miami, FL where he was employed for 27 years as manager of the service department. Eli is loved and cherished by his adoring wife of 40 years, Barbara Hendricks; children, Ann de Velasco of Miami, Kathleen Balter of Palm Beach Gardens, Barbara King of Waterbury, CT, Maureen Bussett of Port St. Lucie, Colleen Witkop of Davie, and Pastor Eli Hendricks of Tallahassee; his son, Paul Hendricks of Louisville, KY, preceded him in death. He leaves behind 17 treasured grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Tropical Farms Baptist Church of Stuart, FL. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 4th at 11 am at the church, located at 1555 S.W. Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34997 (772) 287-2770. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tropical Farms Baptist Church to support missionary outreach.
