Eugene Agnone Obituary

Agnone Agnone, Eugene John, M.D., of Pompano Beach passed away on June 27, 2003. Formerly of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. He was born on December 9, 1918, the 9th and youngest child of Anthony and Emanuela Agnone. Dr. Agnone was a graduate of Saint Thomas University, now known as the University of Scranton, and of Hahneman Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. Served as a Captain, Medical Corps., in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dr. Agnone thoroughly enjoyed caring for patients as an Anesthesiologist for over 40 years. He had the privilege of serving as Chief of Anesthesia at North Broward Hospital as well as Detroit Memorial and South Macomb Community Hospitals in Michigan. He was instrumental in starting the first school for respiratory therapy in Detroit. On May 8, 1948 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jean DeLuca. Survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; sons, Eugene John (Margaret), Jr., M.D. of Grosse Pointe, MI, Robert (Cathy) of Northbrook, IL, Louis (Beth), M.D. of Ormond Beach, FL; daughters, Lucianne (Daniel) Conklin of Kalamazoo, MI, Elizabeth (Kevin) Kelly of Cincinnatti, OH, Catherine (Carlo) Lucchesi of Springfield, VA; nineteen grandchildren; sister. Carmella Florio of Scranton. PA; brothers, Peter Agnone, M.D. of Riverview, MI and Anthony (Alice) Agnone of South River, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 29, 2003 2-4 and 6-8 PM with wake service at 7:30 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 30 9:30 AM at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Lighthouse Point. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Broward Medical Center Gold Coast Hospice or North Broward Medical Center Memory Disorder Center.
