Sun-Sentinel Obituaries
Dear Sun-Sentinel,
This is a little letter about my dad his name is Frank Accardi my name is Jerome Accardi my Email is Jerome [email protected] Thanks so much!

My Dad
It is just over a month now that dad has left us, and not a day has pass that I have not
shed a tear, tears of joy and some pain.
Today the 18th day of October 2007.
I visited dads grave. It was a beautiful day, the sun shining and a warm breeze.
I felt a very peaceful easy feeling surrounded by nature with dad, I felt at peace.
To know my dad was to know peace, to know love.
Im sure dad is comfortable here resting now, in Florida, a place he often talked to me about.
Dad is now amongst his many brothers and sisters, whith whom he served his great country.
Men and womem of respect, the man my dad was a man of respect.
I look forward to visiting with my dad here and spending some time talking with him, just like I was able to do for the past 45 years of my life.
Dad was the most loving and caring man I have ever known.
He always had a kind word and gave me his best advise.
Dad never spoke the words I love you ,but never have I felt such a love, a deep bond, a love only to be felt with my dad.my dad was and will always be my best friend.
Dad never would say to me I love you son even when I would say I love you dad, and wished he would, but his love was felt never the less by me and by all. I have a love for life and for all mankind.
I love all Gods’ people animals and nature. I have a great respect for people and life and expect people to respect the same, but I see this is not possible for all
I have a great compassion for people, animals, and nature and love to love.
This I know.
These feelings I know have been passed on to me through my dad.
Not a day has gone by that I don’t think of him,and see his gentle smile.
To know dad was to know a man of remarkable human spirit.
How my heart responds to the thought that the universe is alive and compassionate and that with it and other souls of great power and light I learn through the process of loving as my father did this life experience.
Humbleness, forgiveness, clarity, and love, all gifts of the spirit.
I want my dad to be proud of me now.
I have turned my life around. I feel that I have become a body in a soul, rather
Than a soul in a body. I am aware of what I feel.
I had to crawl before I could walk and now I must walk the walk.
God has different tools for each of us to use to bring light and truth to others, god is my inspiration, my roots, I am not perfect and ill always be growing in my walk, but I choose to live the best life I can, that I may shine in the dark.
Living with purpose is the only way to really live.
Dad served his purpose here in this life.
My dad was truly blessed!
“Live life with a due sense of responsibility, not as those who do not know the meaning of life,
but as those who do”
Ephesians 5:15
“Blessed are the balanced”
I miss you dad.
Your son Jerome.

My first memory of Frank Accardi was when I met him one day at Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream, as I went to school with Mike. From the very first day I knew that this was a kind gentle, easy spoken man with a heart of gold. After Mike, Ed Kilroy who was also in our class became best of friends we all felt very welcome in each other's homes. There was just that very simple, yet very honest feeling of love and concern for each other.
Eventually Mike, Ed, Ed Tuffy, Eric Hilton and I hooked up to become quite a good band known throughout Valley Stream and the surrounding communities. Until Mike got his drivers license, Frank and the other parents were there to drive us to practice and our gigs.
I'll never forget the day that Mike was pulling the old Jeep up to the curb in front of the house on Valley Stream Blvd, hit the curb and knocked some of the concrete loose and into the street. I saw the look on Frank's face and thought that Mike would never ever be able to drive the family car again. But, being the gentle man that he was, he just looked at Mike with a perplexed look on his face and kind of shrugged it off.
Frank was also a one-of-a-kind upholsterer. He made me some beautiful custom made dining room chair cushions that many people had admired for years. It seemed that he loved his craft and loved to keep busy at the things that he knew well.
I would always seem him ushering at mass at Holy Name of Mary Church, and had a great devotion to the parish being involved with several associations.
Frank if you could read this, I would want you to know that you and your wife did a magnificent job raising your children, and even though we might have been too young to express it, I always admired your dedication to every thing that you set out to do.
You have a great family, and to them I wish the love and blessing of our Lord and know that you are reunited with him in heaven.

To Aunt Rosa & Cousins:
It is unusual to say it was a wonderful Funeral but it was a "celebration" of Uncle Frank's 96 years and the family was gathered together again. Viewing the family pictures stirs our memories and those happy memories are what we have forever. Uncle Frank is now in the Mansion of Heaven with his Mom & Dad and sisters and brother always smiling down on us. The Military Burial with "taps" being played in the background and the United States Flag being folded and presented to Aunt Rosa was truly fitting for an American hero. A final farewell for a wonderful person.
Rest in Peace, Uncle Frank.
Your niece, JoAnn and family.

My father-in-law Frank, was a kind hearted gentleman who loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. One of my children's fondest memories was helping grandpa sweep out his beloved garage in Florida, because they knew that if they stuck around long enough he would find something that they could have like a scooter for Nick to ride on and a cowboy hat for Frankie to wear. Even though we lived in New York, grandpa always sent my children notes and his infamous newspaper clippings that he would think they would find interesting. Grandpa Frank always liked to spend time talking to my boys to find out what was going on in their lives. We will all be left with our fond memories and I would like to end by saying that I will miss your smile and your sense of humor, but most of all your kind, compassionate spirit. Don't forget to give the angels your "card" up in heaven.

Grandpa, you are a love, mentor, comedian, packrat and photographer. I loved walking in your garage of treasures in NY and here. You'd always save every article of veterinary and animal readings for me. You always had a gift for me or wanted to take a picture of me with your polariod. I'll miss the smell of your pipes and cigars. I loved watching you read the newspaper outside and always asking me, "How's what's his name?" with a smirk. But I will miss your smiles, strong handshakes and wet kisses the most. We all are so blessed to have had you in our lives and your memories and wisdom will live on. I know that was you the other night at Carabas, I hope you keep popping up and showing us your still watching and smiling. I love you Grandpa - oxoxo

Frank had a gift. He was able to make you feel a part of his family in just a matter of minutes. When you talked to Frank, he had a calm and soothing voice that made you feel like everything will be alright. Frank was never too busy to stop and listen to what you had to say, and he always had a story to share with you. I will forever remember the love he shared to all, and that special twinkle in his eye. Frank will be missed but never forgotten. I know he will have a special place in Heaven. For those that may remember...(Lisa) Each time I reach for a hanger, I think of Frank! My sincere sympathy shared with your entire family and for all that will share the loss of such a special man.

We feel blessed to have known Frank Accardi, a man with a gentle soul and an incredible zest for life. He always had a story to share and always made time to listen for his family and friends. Frank had a love for the violin. We were fortunate to have him at our home in recent years where my mother performed a few songs and allowed him the opportunity to hold and play the violin.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosa and all of Frank's extended family.

Mr. Accardi - you are one of my fond childhood memories. (The Accardis lived across the street from my family in Valley Stream.) I'll always remember your Willy's Jeep- no one else in the neighborhood had one of those!
You used to give me your old upholstery and drapery sample books and I spent HOURS making doll clothes from the beautiful fabrics.
I'm glad I got to see you a couple of times in recent years. You will be missed.

Antonio Dicembrino

His eyes had seen so much over the past 90+ years and he always had a story to tell about the history he was a part of. It's funny how the story's that I found uninteresting as a child, I later yearned for as an adult and now are some of my most fond memories. A father and provider to more then just his own children. Frank and Rosa together loved and cared for many foster children. If a biography was to be done on his life, it should be titled "A Life Well Lived". I am lucky to have known him for 30 years and for my wife and children to have met him. We love you Grandpa.
