Jeanne Bernstein Obituary

Bernstein, Jeanne I. Beloved Mother of Amy Bernstein and Beloved Wife of the Late Leonard Bernstein. Survived by her sister, Bernice Friedman, and her brother, Larry Berger. Born in Brooklyn, NY. Jeanne was a remarkable woman, educator, counselor, poet and humorist. Her love of life, family, friends, music and theater provided an abundance of good living, fun and friendship everywhere she went. Jeanne will be deeply missed by all. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, at IJ Morris Funeral Home, Hempstead, NY. Donations in Jeanne's memory can be made to the Leonard Bernstein Scholarship Fund, at Congregation Tefereth Israel, 40 Hill Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542.

Dear Amy, Larry and Bernice, I was so sad to learn of "Cousin Jeanne's" passing. I always loved being around her and spending time with her when I was a child. She was fun. She was influential to me as a teenager, exposing me to important ideas about women. We saw her - and all of you - too infrequently. Deepest condolences to all of you at this time. Dear Amy and Family,
I just heard of your Mother's passing.
So glad our paths crossed, when she was here to see her Dear Cousin Miriam.
Your Mom was a delight and we did get to visit on some of our FL trips.
Love fdrom all the Calif group, Judy Peterson, Kathy Javis, Shirley Williamson, Judy McQuay, Fran Cary, and of course me.. Terri Lavoot.
