Much more than my accountant, more than a good fellow traveler, John could talk baseball and drink Scotch whiskey with conviction the two components drove the universe. Sit back, my friend and enjoy the view.

July 21, 2012
I met John back in the late 80's as a consultant for a business he was working for at the time. Our paths continued to cross for a couple of years and because of his natural ability to develop friendships we discovered a mutual interested at the time in racquetball. Took me a year of hard labor before I was ever able to beat him for the first time. To be honest, I think he felt sorry for me.

I remember meeting Sunday as our friendship grew and we would attend social events and go out to diner always enjoying the company and conversation.

John and Sunday introduced my wife Deb and I to winter sports while they were developing their love for the mountains of Colorado. Being a Florida native, I had never bothered to stick a pair of sticks on my legs and go off a 12,000 cliff before. Our memories of that vacation and the times we spent in the snow was one of our first times we traveled together on vacation but certainly not our last.

Fifteen years ago, when we backed into a large business opportunity I remember looking up from a rather serious bit of correspondence and said out loud we are going to need an accountant. I remember calling my friend John and we never looked back once from that day forward. John became our financial counselor and I never spent a day worrying about that side of our business again. We all would marvel at his ability to pencil complex business on his ever present notepad and maintain another conversation at the same time. He was the quintessential multitasker and we all loved him for the fact that he never let anything fall behind. Not ever.

We often spoke about the need to maintain balance in our personal lives and I would always enjoy his traveling stories when he returned from his many trips with Sunday.

Dude ranches, rappelling, African safaris, way too many fishing stories to list here and I am happy that John was able to accomplish those trips during his lifetime.

Every day when I would drive home, I would have him on speakerphone. He was my sounding board, confidant, and enduring friend.

I am going to have to learn how to hear a bit of good news and not want to call John to share it with him. We had been working all year developing business that came in during the week. I thought John's going to be happy. And that is perhaps the smallest part of the void that we will all feel in John's passing. John was more like my brother. I will never forget what I have learned from our time together and I am grateful for our time spent enjoying every minute of life.

Our entire company will miss you more than words will ever do justice to so I wont try. John was the DNA of our company and that will be his legacy that we take forward on a positive note.

Deb and I are there for you Sunday in this difficult time.
