Joseph Bland Obituary

Joseph Gannon Bland of Coral Springs, Florida died suddenly on January 11, 2014 in San Francisco, California on his way home from a vacation trip. He was born on January 19, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois to Gertrude Anna Moles Bland of Oak Park, Illinois and Douglas Francis Bland, originally of Scarborough, England. The family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1939, and Joseph graduated from St. Anthony's High School and later earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Florida, where he also studied law for a year. He served in the U. S. Army/Air Force for two years, including a year in Korea, then worked in a variety of jobs, becoming a real estate investor for many years. Joseph is survived by his wife of over forty years, Penelope Joan Fritzer, and by their son, Bartholomew Fritzer Bland, of New York City. Joseph was the fifth of five children and was predeceased by his brother Frederick Raymond Bland. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Catherine Bland Haller of Aston, Pennsylvania; Genevieve Carina Bland of Flagler Beach, Florida and Dillard, Georgia; and Rosemary Theresa Bland Moor of Pinner, England; and by many nieces and nephews. A remembrance gathering will be private.

Dear Penelope
Rhonda Light from the foreclosure reporting service called me yesterday and told me about Joe. I am so sorry that I missed any service there might have been for him. He was my friend and my real estate mentor. You are in my prayers.
