Kevin Senecal Obituary

Kevin Senecal, the man with a smile that lit up a room, unexpectedly died on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 51 years young. Kevin had many titles, from Coach to Chief to CEO and President of Holiday Diver, Inc. However, Kevin's favorite title was "Dad". Kevin leaves behind his adoring wife of 31 years, Shelley Ray Senecal, and their three children: Zachary, Hannah and Jacob. Kevin also was the baby brother to five siblings: Mike Senecal (Sharon) of Florida, and Joann Vales (Ric), Tom Senecal (Debbie), Dan Fortenbacher (Sue) and Jeff Fortenbacher (Corinne), all living in Michigan.

Kevin was born in St. Joseph, Michigan to Wayne and Gloria Senecal. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, and then attended the University of Michigan. Upon graduating, Kevin and his wife relocated to South Florida to begin an exciting life and build his family business, Divers Direct. What an exciting life it was! Filled with traveling the world, watching his Wolverines at the Big House, boating and diving, cheering or coaching his kids playing sports, and making many friends along the way with whom to share the most beautiful sunsets. As he would say when the sun would set in the Florida Keys, "This Never Gets Old!"

In addition to his family business and personal pursuits, Kevin also served on the board of Florida Girls Giving Back, the FIU Dean's Advisory Board, Friends of our Florida Reefs, and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.

A private memorial has been scheduled and the family requests that if you would like to honor Kevin's memory, please make a donation to one of these causes in which he so believed – 1) Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Foundation at floridakeysfoundation.org, 33 East Quay Road, Key West, FL 33040, or 2) Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.

Dear Shelley, Zachary, Hannah and Jacob. I was a lucky person to have known Kevin. Besides being a great employer he was a gentleman. I remember once when he invited me to play 18 holes Carter and Chuck. I made it to the 9th hole averaging about 6 strokes per hole, it was embarrassing but Kevin went out of his way to make it no big deal. What a great man. He will be missed.

Kevin did so much for the diving community of South Florida. My favorite dive site, the Spiegel Grove, is here because guys like Rob, Slate, and Kevin Senecal made it happen. Every diver that drops down the line to the Spiegel is a thank you to Kevin and his family.
