Michael Ginsburg Obituary

Michael David Ginsburg, age 75, of Boynton Beach, FL and Lake George, NY, died suddenly on Sunday May 12, 2013. Born in Rutland, VT to Charles and Sarah Ginsburg, Michael grew up in Glens Falls, NY, where he lived until retiring to Boca Raton, Florida. Michael graduated from Glens Falls High School and attended Boston University before joining the United States Air Force. Michael was the president of Economy Dry Goods Corporation, better known as the JOY Department Stores, in upstate New York. He was an amazing entrepreneur involved in several other enterprises. Michael served as a board member of the First National Bank of Glens Falls. He also served on the board of the Glens Falls Hospital and the Crandall Library. Michael was a Republican Saratoga Country Representative and a delegate for the 1980 presidential convention. He was also a devoted member of Temple Beth El in Glens Falls, NY. Michael loved the Upstate New York and South Florida areas and had made close friends over the years from Saratoga, Warren, Washington, and Essex counties as well throughout South Florida. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and a good poker game. He absolutely loved spending time with his large family, and will be remembered as a husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, and cousin. Michael was married to Marcia (Van Loan) Ginsburg. They were inseparable for their 41 years together, traveling between their homes in South Florida and Lake George, and roaming around the country and the world. Michael is survived by his wife, Marcia, his children, Lisa Ginsburg, Victoria and Frank Sicre, Angela and Rick Ferazi, and Jennifer Ginsburg, as well as his 7 grandchildren, Sean Johnson and Evan Sicre, Samantha, Francesca, and Nicholas Ferazi, and Jakob and Logan Mainiero. Michael also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Annie Ginsburg, his sister, Joy Ginsburg- Hendel, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Private Services will be held Tuesday with full military honors. The family will be sitting shiva on Tuesday, May 14th between 5:00pm-9:00pm at the residence of Joy Ginsburg-Hendel in Boca West Country Club at 5402 Sawgrass Court, Boca Raton, FL 33434. There will be a memorial service held in Glens Falls at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Beth El at 3 Marion Ave, Glens Falls, NY, 12801.

Dear Marcia, Bobby, Annie,,Joy and all of your family,

Sandy and I remember so many funny times with Michael and all of you. There was so much of Michael to love. His warmth, personality, sincerity , loyalty, laugh, smile, and how he was so loved by everyone.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I have nothing but great memories of being allowed to use the tennis court while growing up. Your father was always treating people right, be in the neighborhood or his employees at the Joy Store. My grandmother talked about him until her passing.
