Mildred Gattis Obituary

Gattis Gattis, Mildred L. Beloved mother and friend, passed away peacefully Thursday, surrounded by family. Millie was born in Washington. D.C. in 1919, daughter of George and Mary Alice Tait. She and her husband, Bryant Gattis, moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1952. Millie was an active member of First Christian Church. She worked for many years with the Seminole tribe in Dania. Millie will be deeply missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Gattis and her husband Tony Treu (her care providers), son Geoff and wife Betsy, step-daughter Patricia Williams and husband Eurith Dee, niece Evelyn Kirk, grandsons Will and Bryan, step-grandchildren Steve, David, Janet and Jennifer. In Millie?s memory, donations may be made to Abandoned Pet Rescue in Fort Lauderdale, (954) 728-9010.

Geoff and Sandra, I was sadden to hear about your loss. We moved to SW 26 Street in late 1953, and we soon met the greatest bunch of mothers assembled in one small place. Your mother was certainly the greatest of the great.

I had the pleasure of knowing Millie for over fifty years. In all that time I can't remember ever seeing her without a smile and that is how I will always remember her.
