My Uncle Nicky, my godfather, will always have a special place in my heart. He had the gift of making a child feel that the time he spent with that child took precedence over everything else. I can still see him performing his special magic trick. He would say "Hocus Pocus" over a whole banana. He would then peel the banana and it would be perfectly halved. How did that happen with no knife in sight? He revealed the trick to me years later. I can't wait until my grandson is old enough to experience this priceless ritual. I will be sure to tell my grandson about my Uncle Nicky, the man who brought so much joy into my childhood.
