Paul Schulz Obituary

Paul Donald Schulz, born September 21, 1930, passed peacefully from this earth May 30, 2015, to be with his Heavenly Father and rejoin his beloved wife of 56 years, Joanne. He was surrounded by loved ones during his last days on earth. He is survived by his five children Paula (Dennis) McKinney, Austin, Texas; Michael (Franney) Schulz, Mobile, Alabama; Jennifer (Sean) O'Brien, Pensacola, Florida; Marit Karen (Dietmar) Glaser, Fairhope, Alabama; and Joseph Schulz, Jupiter, Florida; his sister, Nancy Roche of Lady Lake, Florida; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Paul was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and thus began his love of all Cleveland teams especially the Cleveland Browns. He spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Miami with his sister and mother, Ellamae Schulz, who preceded him in death, and graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic High School. After graduating from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola where he later became a candidate in Officers Candidate School until he broke his back and was medically honorably discharged in 1955. He was hired by International Paper Company and worked for them until his retirement in 1986. They moved to Boca Raton where he was a consultant until he fully retired in the late 1990's. After 27 wonderful years in Boca, Paul and Joanne moved to Fairhope, Alabama in 2013 to live with their daughter and be closer to family in the area. Viewing and mass will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 21689 Toledo Road, Boca Raton, FL beginning at 9:30 a.m. Following the mass, he will be entombed alongside Joanne at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Royal Palm Beach. Donations in his name can be made to Alzheimer Foundation (http://www.alzfdn.org/), or to Christ the King Catholic Church Memorial Park in memory of Paul & Joanne Schulz, Daphne, Alabama (http://www.ctk-daphne.org/). Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach, FL in charge of arrangements (www.Lorneandsons.com).

Thank you Mr. McAuley for your kind words about my parents. It is very comforting to know that their friends and my fathers former co workers still think and remember him. God Bless to you and yours.

Paul and Joanne are in my thoughts/prayers often as I am still involved in the Containerboard industry and reflect often upon the wonderful people that worked for IP in New York. The relationship Paul and I had continued after his retirement from IP as I hired him as a consultant for Gaylord Container in Deerfield, Illinois. Paul was instrumental in helping us to solve production issues at our two mills. Joanne was such a wondeful, talented lady and we enjoyed her impromptu singing at various IP functions. They are sorely missed, however, the fond memories remain

Paula and siblings! I am so sorry for all of your loss! I know that it feels awful to lose your dad after just losing your mom. I am so sad that these 2 great people are no longer with you. They impacted MY life so much and I have such wonderful memories of both of them from hanging out at your house on Claridge Road. May your memories of both your mom and dad always be a blessing to you.

Paul was a special guy and friend.....both working together in NY and the years to follow as a consultant. I learned a great deal (as did many) from his mentoring! My wife and I also enjoyed wonderful social time with he and JoAnne....fond memories/laughter we shall always remember.
God Bless he, JoAnne and the entire Schulz family
