Steven, you were (and still are) one of the coolest kids I know. You were the human form of positivity. I've never heard you complain once. You always saw the good in everything. People didn't even have to be close to you to have a good time with you. I remember the first time I met you, you almost fell into me because you were being chased around, and I thought "Yo, this kid seems wild, I should hang with this guy. I remember always shooting peace signs at each other in between 2nd and 3rd hour, I remember you crashing 1st hour whenever Dr. Newstreet wasn't there, and I remember at lunch, before we started talking more, you hugged me and asked me how I was. Why? Just because you were that kind of guy. You always brought smiles to everyone's faces. I remember when you almost crashed my party, if only you did. The thing I admired the most about you was how passionate about music you were. You were so into it. I could be sitting on your shoulders while you're playing drums and you wouldn't notice. You were also such a great bassist. I'm really gonna miss walking into the band room after school and not being able to hear myself think because you were playing drums so loud. I may have only known you for a few months, but I'm really going to miss you a lot. It's been awful without you. Rock in peace, and keep on drumming.

Words cannot describe how amazing you were with those drums! Not to mention with the guitar. I always seen you around school, smiling and laughing. I remember the exact spot I last saw you walk by in school. It was near the patio. My prayers go out to you, your close friends, your family, Steven Komec, his close friends, and his family. RIP Steven Hoyos. Keep on drummin for the big guy up there for us! ???

Steven, you were such a sweet, funny, goofy boy. You were polite and you always went out of your way to say hi and give me a hug or help me bring in my groceries and you always made Olivia feel special. I will miss seeing you fish in the lake at the end of our street when I would drive by. I will miss hearing you guys play together. I always told Max to stick with you because you had the "it" factor. I think you were gonna be a rock star. You are a special boy that was taken much too soon. To the Hoyos family, I hope you can feel how special and how loved Steven was. If we can do anything for you, we are here for you all. Rest in peace sweetie, you will surely be missed.

I knew Steven at school, he was there for me when I nearly threw up and had a panic attack at our school where we used to go, when I heard the news that he passed, I was shocked and scared... I didn't know what to do but get answers from my friends who knew him more then I did, he was a funny, great guy and made everyone laugh, he would always make everyone smile everyday, I feel so sorry for his brother and family and I wish he could see them and Steven komec, his bff, he's OK and well, everyone checks up on him for Steven H, and he is missing you and so are all of us, may you rest in peace and keep drumming bro ?

I didn't know you but nobody has to tell me what a great person and friend you was. You set out to do a good deed and the Lord decided to detour the road. Your good deeds were accomplished here on earth and your time came to an end but I pray that your parents will understand. We didn't talk much recently, but I remember the few weeks I knew you at margate middle before I had to move. You honestly touched my heart. I'll never forget how sweet you were, and how refreshing it was to be treated so well by someone I had just met. I wish I could've stayed longer and gotten to know you better. I really do. But despite that, you left your mark on me and I honestly can't believe you're gone. It's just something I'm unable to process. And I can't even begin to imagine what the people who knew you better must be feeling now. God had much bigger plans for you, heaven must have needed a rocker. And they picked a great one. Rest in paradise Steven. I know you will be greatly missed by many.

This message still shocks me til this day. In every class I'm researching the situation because to me everything doesn't add up. It hurts me the most to see you just Thursday happy, enjoying life. I knew you since the 4th grade, you were actually one of the few kids who was actually nice to me at Margate Elementary, when others weren't. We may have fell apart in high school but i still was happy to see you enjoy music the way you did. Its sad how everything you want to say to someone isn't said until they aren't there to hear you say it. I'm sorry for not thanking you when i had the chance to. Steven was the type of boy, as a parent, you wanted your daughter to be around. I am grateful the the times we had spent with him were special.
