William Callinan Obituary

In Loving Memory of William Richard Callinan CALLINAN, WILLIAM RICHARD 81, Passed away on August 25, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dick was born Oct. 20, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio where he attended Aquinas High School and was active on the swim team. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably until his discharge in 1946. After completing his service he attended Ohio State University for two years. Dick moved to Florida in the mid 1950?s where he established a successful acting career in motion pictures and TV with parts in Woody Allen?s Bananas, Operation Petticoat, and The Exorcist to name a few. He also made numerous commercials over a nearly 50 year career and was also successful in voice over and print work. He was the voice of Schumacher Buick in Palm Beach, Florida for over 20 years. He was president of the Florida Branch of the Screen Actors Guild from 1975-1980. During the course of his life he was an avid golfer and pilot who enjoyed swimming, boating and tennis while living in Florida until his move to Arizona in 2001. Dick is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Betty Callinan. He is survived by his seven children: Mike Callinan of Flagstaff, Arizona, Cathy Campbell of Scottsdale, Arizona, Liz Bonnesen of Phoenix, Arizona, Steve Callinan of Riverside, CA, Rick Callinan of Plantation, Florida, Annie Lemox of Pensacola, Florida and Matt Callinan of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are his two sisters: Nancy Eichenlaub of Columbus, Ohio, and Margaret Rowe and husband Dr. Dan Rowe of Boynton Beach, Fla. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews. Memorial services are pending.
