J.M. "Jack" Kopf, age 88, formerly of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018. Jack was born May 21, 1930, in Waldron, the son of the late John Martin Kopf and Nema Dixie Payne Kopf. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Dierks/Weyerhaeuser. Traveling the United States in an RV brought him happiness. He loved the Lord and his greatest joy was playing and singing gospel music.
Jack was preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Floyie Sue Starr; his second wife, Ruth Ann Rouse; brother, Fred Kopf; and three sisters, Robbie McDaniel, Wanda Rice and Melba Kopf.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Leah Kopf of Radford, Va., and Randy and Michelle Kopf of Atlanta; daughter, Debra Kopf of Hoschton, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jon Kopf, Jennifer Weaver, Anna Kopf, Nora Kopf and Ella Kopf; great-grandchild, Gabriel Weaver; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clarence Kopf of Waldron and Dale and Cheryl Kopf of Lavaca; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret Harrison of Waldron and Jewel and Billy Ed Angel of Little Rock; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs with Brother Roger Rice officiating, with full military honors provided by the honor guards of the U.S. Army and Thaddeus H. Caraway VFW Post No. 2278.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
