David Tyler Delp, age 71, of Rural Retreat, Virginia and the Cedar Springs community, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024, after a 17 month battle with Glioblastoma. He was born in Wytheville, Va. on August 29, 1953. David was the son of the late Philip and Jean Kidd Delp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kristin Ashford Delp. He farmed tobacco and cattle, built houses and taught school – all at the same time. David could fix anything and often did. He also enjoyed collecting "treasures" especially anything Allis Chalmers. He had a soft spot for children and animals, and they had a soft spot for him. David is survived by three daughters, Ann Delp (Andy Brewer), Amy O'Brien (Kevin) and Bobbi Delp (Michael Weich); a step-daughter, Kate Carpenter (Mike); two brothers, Rick Delp (Karen) and Ken Delp (Amanda); two sisters, Debra Terry (Dickie) and Sarah Alfano (Matt); his grandchildren, Tyler Caudill (Rosa), Lilly Caudill, Grace Atwell (Jacob), Lydia Brewer, Fox Brewer, Peyton Brewer, Lucas Brewer, Keeley O'Brien, Kerrington O'Brien, Foster Weich, Savannah Weich, Lila Carpenter, Casey Carpenter; great grand-daughter, Jocelyn Caudill; special nephew, Chad Delp (Hannah) and children Harper, Cord and Cable; special niece, Cara Grubb (Charlie) and children Caimin and Calina, along with several other nieces and nephews.
