Edward Leon Freeman

June 14, 1941 - November 5, 2022

Edward Leon Freeman, age 81, of Austinville, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was born on June 14, 1941, in Wythe County, son of the late Edward Mathis Freeman and Mary Hylton Freeman.

Edward drove for a Courier Service for 7 years, worked at Burlington Mills for years and then Klockner Pentaplast. He enjoyed Nascar and a fan of the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dorothy H. Freeman; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Freeman Walters and Dean of Wytheville; brother and sister-in-law, Duane Freeman and Mary of Wytheville; niece, Tammi and Mike Jackson of Leesburg, Va.; grand-niece, Emily Jackson of Lynchburg, Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Dean and the Reverend Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday evening, November8, 2022, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
