Anabelle Dalberg Obituary
June 15, 1927 - December 10, 2024
Anabelle Hanson Dalberg died peacefully in her sleep on December 10, 2024. Raised on a farm near Grantsburg WI, she began studying piano at a young age and played flute in high school. Anabelle graduated with a degree in teaching from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She also attended Augsburg College and the Lutheran Bible Institute, where she met her husband, Len. They married in 1950. Len became a Lutheran pastor and for 65 years he was Anabelle's greatest admirer and her loving husband. They walked daily, side by side, hand in hand -- an apt metaphor for their life together until Len died in early 2016.
Anabelle loved music, as shown by eight decades of musicianship: leading children's choirs, teaching piano, and serving as a professional organist in several congregations, including Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church. She also taught children, first in a Montessori School and later with a Christian education program that served public schools. An active church leader, Anabelle participated in ELCA women's groups and bible studies.
She is survived by her four children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her youngest brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Leonard and Anabelle Dalberg Scholarship Fund at Augsburg College in Minneapolis or to Bethania Lutheran Church in Solvang, CA.
A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held at Bethania Lutheran at 11 AM on January 6, 2025.

Please accept our sympathies on the recent loss of your dear mom and grandmother Anabelle. We first met Anabelle and her husband almost 14 years ago when my own mother Zella Brinkerhoff moved to Atterdag. Sometimes she would be one of my mother"s dining hall buddies at Atterdag. We enjoyed chats with Anabelle over meals at the times while visiting our own mom. We were so impressed with her stories, her faith and her sweet spirit. Our own mother Zella just passed this week, Jan. 3 , also going peacefully . She would see Annabelle at Skilled Nursing at times, these past 10 months where they both were i n residence. May our two moms enjoy rest and sweet fellowship together now in heaven with their Savior Jesus ,their husbands and many loved ones. And may the Lord bring comfort and peace to you, Anabelle"s loved ones.

I remember Anabelle´s sweet smile and disposition! During the years When I grew up in Alpha, our family enjoyed many visits with my mother´s Uncle Clarence and his wife Annie. Fond memories!
