Joseph is survived by his wife Mary Miranda, stepdaughter Michelle Miller, and stepson Pete Garnier, mother Margaret Miranda, sisters: Clara Miranda, Rosanna Miranda, and Cindy Martinez, also by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father Joseph C. Miranda and all of his brothers: Billy, Cyril, Frankie, Peter and Anthony Miranda.
Joseph was raised on the Chumash Reservation and resided there most of his life. He was known for his nick names like "Crazy Horse" and "Peanut" and known for his many talents. He was a musician favoring his guitar and harmonica usually singing along to Bob Dylan and Neil Young. He was a great mechanic always working on one of his many car projects. He loved to cruise his Corvette and other classic cars all over the valley. He was known for his artwork around the reservation. He liked to garden and Joseph especially loved his dogs. He liked to Gamble, but most of all had a BIG heart; he was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need especially the homeless. Joseph passed away of natural illness on Thursday, February 24, 2011.
Rosary/Vigil was held on Tuesday, March 1st at 7:00pm at Old Mission Santa Ines. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11:00 am at Old Mission Santa Ines. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard.
