Dear Aunt Yola, Al, Jack, Richard, Eva, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,
First, I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear the news, you have my prayers and deepest sympathy. I loved my Uncle Al. Of all my relatives, he was my favorite. Some of the best times of my life I can say were spent with him. I'll always remember the fun times in St Augustine when I was young and later on in visits to Havana, Tallahassee, and Carabelle. His visits up here in Ohio were also very special. This included Laurie and I's wedding and when my Dad died. There were several others.
I could easily write 10 pages of all the experiences I shared with him.
They all have one thing in common. He was a hard-working man, smart in many ares, and loved his family. He served his country with honor. He was friendly, giving, and kind to friends and others alike. Most of all, he was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor.
Him and my Dad were close. He always took care of his younger brother. I remember him crying, looking at my Dad at the funeral home. He kissed him on the forehead. This touched me deeply.
When Laurie and I had our first child, and it was a boy, there was no doubt what his name would be. I'm glad Alex got to spend a little time with his great-uncle. I'm sorry that Sam never got a chance to meet him.
I'm extremely sorry that I will not be able to attend the service. I'll be there in spirit and again you all have my deepest regards and sympathy. This includes Laurie, Alex, Sam, my Mom, my brother John, and sister Mary.
I know Uncle Al is at peace and lived a full life. He's now with God, his Mom and Dad, his brothers and his son.
God bless all of you. May He give you the strength to carry on after this great loss.
Love always,
Jim Crlenjak
